... Great peice.

We recently caught up with Sion, the farmer who hosted the trial looking at the SlurryForSoil vs additional urea to find out what he saw as the experiment progressed. He made some interesting observations:

“At application, the treated slurry dried a lot quicker. “This potentially means less run off and leaching as well as more nutrients where the grass can use them. The cut off between the two slurry applications was obvious.”

Throughout the spring, Sion kept an eye on grass growth: “The half of the field that received the slurry treated with SlurryForSoil was more consistent across the field and across the season,” he notes.

Ultimately, the split field trial showed SlurryForSoil increased dry matter grass yields by 21.5% and fresh grass yields 16.4%, above additional nitrogen. Find out more about the trial here: https://sylgenanimalhealth.com/scientific-trial/slurryforsoil-grows-more-grass-than-urea/

Take part in the "Big Debate" at the 2025 National Youngstock Conference, 16 July.

Our focus: Optimising Dairy Beef: Efficiency, Profitability and Sustainability

Led by an expert panel, discussion will explore how the dairy beef sector can balance productivity and profitability with environmental responsibility. The session brings together voices from across the supply chain including a veterinary expert, a food group representative, and practitioners from dairy farming,
calf rearing, and beef finishing.

The conversation will spotlight practical examples of systems improvement, discuss the impact of sustainability on the wider supply chain — including Scope 3 emissions and retailer expectations — and consider the role of incentives in shaping farming practices.

The panel aims to inspire and inform with practical insights into the development of a more sustainable and profitable future for dairy beef.

This exciting session is sponsored by Trouw Nutrition and VetPartners
