Ofcom has confirmed the transfer of the UK's first Small-Scale DAB multiplex licence to RedArmy Group UK.

Previously held by sister company MUX ONE, the multiplex's move into the RedArmy Group makes absolute sense as our DAB radio stations The TOON and The CAT are transmitted to Tyneside & Wearside by the mux. The switch ensures its financial stability for the future. RedArmy Group is also looking to increase its multiplex ownership in the north.

It's been two years since Radio Shields launched on DAB Digital Radio across South Shields and Tynemouth - thanks to MUX ONE

We launched as an online local radio station for the community in 2019. Since then, the station has gone from strength to strength delivering local news, weather, sport and more.
We've welcomed members of the community to access the airwaves

We've been to the best events across South Tyneside and North Tyneside.

Saturday 11th December 2021, we launched the station on DAB Digital Radio, providing a full-time local community radio service to the local area. One of our greatest achievements!

We'd like to say a thank you to everyone who has listened, supported us, or worked with us past and present, and future! 🎧

Let's continue making real local radio for South Shields and Tynemouth.

Speaker Announcement 🗣

We're delighted to announce another guest speaker for the forthcoming Connecting Communities National Conference 2023.

Dave Roberts from MUX ONE will be joining us to discuss SSDAB, with the Tyneside and South Shields MUX as the first in the UK and approaching its 2 year anniversary.

Dave telling us that "SSDAB - No pot of gold, and a tougher hurdle to jump"

Great to see Sunderland included in Ofcom's Round 6 SSDAB announcement.

How they haven't included Stockton-on-Tees is beyond me, in all honesty they should never have split Teesside, but as they have they could have at least looked to get the full region covered as soon as was practically possible.
