Our namesake and icon. The original cool girl.
Debbie Harry, the forever Sunday Girl, turns 80 today.

Without Blondie, these Sunday Girls might not be strapped into this crazy dream of publishing an indie mag.

Throwback to ten years ago, in the corridors of UCA Epsom, where our founder was scribbling names for a new kind of magazine. One for the girls who wanted more; more substance, more soul, more sisterhood. Not another glossy telling us to shrink ourselves, chase boys, or disappear into crash diets and celebrity gossip. Something gentler, cooler. A space for girls who loved fashion, feminism, and hearing about girls doing amazing things. Readers who valued authenticity, who were curious, artistic, and full of ideas.

Think, the direction that Jenna Rink wanted for Poise in 13 Going on 30. But IRL.

The name? It was written all over the initial moodboard. Sunday Girl.

The tutors called it “kitschy.” Not impactful enough.

But we knew it capsulated SG.

To everyone who’s been with us since day one: thank you for believing in what Sunday Girl stands for. And to Debbie, happy 80th.

You’re still the blueprint.

Hey SGs, LIFE HAS BEEN LIFING! 😮‍💨

Team SG wears a lot of hats: writers, editorial planners, photographers, stylists, graphic designers, editors, event planners, community builders, admin pros, emailers, social media managers… and then some.

But we’re also:
New mums. Full-time workers. Dog mums. Partners. Best friends. Travelling-to-new-cities girlies. From flights between Chicago and Palm Springs, work trips, promotions, freelancing…we’ve been quietly grinding behind the scenes.

And yeaaaaah — TIRED girls sometimes 😅

Being creative is honestly the best, but it’s admittedly hard sometimes. Anyone else feeling that!? We’re still here, just working on some big things✨🥹
