Tees Business and some of our key partners were treated to an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of SeAH Wind’s huge new factory at Teesworks this week.
SeAH Wind’s new monopile factory marks a significant milestone for Teesside and the UK’s offshore-wind industry.
The £900m facility spans approximately 810m in length, 200m in width and 40m in height.
It’s capable of manufacturing monopiles up to 120m long, 15.5m in diameter and weighing over 3,000 tonnes each.
Once fully operational, the factory is expected to create around 750 direct jobs and an additional 1,500 supply-chain roles in the region.
The first production run is already underway, supplying foundations for the Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm project, with the first to roll off the production line in the first quarter of 2026.
This investment not only revitalises a key Teesside industrial site but also anchors the region firmly in the UK’s journey to net-zero energy.
Joining Dave Allan, Martin Walker and Chris Garbutt from Tees Business on the SeAH Wind factory tour were Kate White and Karen Robinson from Durata, Jacob Tribe from Etc, Paul Foreman and Grant Honzik from PD Ports, Angela Turley and Charlie Nettle from AV Dawson, Tom Roberton and Andy Ballantyne from Circle Cloud, Louis Malan from SABIC, Trevor Cook from Baines Jewitt, Gary Potts from Middlesbrough College, Kathryn Watson and Michael Dowson from Sembcorp, Stephen Robinson from Outrank and David Collins from Barclays
A huge thank you to David Jack and Lewis McDonald from SeAH Wind for accommodating us and for giving us such a fascinating insight into this fantastic development for the Tees region.
