This week we’re doing something a little different from our usual travel and history adventures.

Recently I organised a YouTube creator meet-up here in Gloucestershire and spent the day showing fellow YouTubers one of my favourite local walks along the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal.

Starting at Sharpness Docks, we walked to the fascinating Purton Ships’ Graveyard, enjoyed some local history, plenty of conversation and laughs along the way, before finishing the day with a well-earned pub meal.

It’s a more relaxed and personal video than usual, giving a behind-the-scenes look at what happens when YouTubers get together away from their editing desks and cameras.

Another good day hobbling around with these lot. Kim Watson. Kevin Hall. English.
Tewkesbury, taking in the town with its many alleys. The Abbey which was fascinating. A stop at Deerhurst and then the Hereford & Gloucester canal at Over Basin. And of course Pub. 👍🏻🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏻‍♂️🚶🏻‍♂️🚶‍♀️. Happy times if a tad warm and sore.

This week we’re exploring the dramatic ruins of Slains Castle on Scotland’s northeast coast — a place many believe helped inspire Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Perched high on the cliffs above the North Sea, this atmospheric ruin has an incredible history, stunning coastal views and a fascinating literary connection.

This was one of the highlights of our Scotland road trip and one of the most memorable locations we visited.
