Did you know the Public Rights of Way (ProW) maintenance team doesn't just maintain footpaths and bridleways in countryside areas ?

They also maintain a vast network of urban footpaths, which are a fantastic and fun way to explore Leeds. They offer accessible routes for walking through varied landscapes, from the city centre to green spaces and parks like Sugarwell Hill 🌳

The ProW maintenance team recommend you explore Sugarwell Hill this Autumn! When the leaves start to display natures colours, it's magnificent 🍁

Walking is also a great way to recharge your batteries and connect with nature 🍂

ICON Week 2025: helping parents stay calm when babies cry

This September, organisations across the country come together to support parents and carers during ICON Week 2025 (22–26 September).

The national campaign shares the important message: “Babies cry, you can cope!”

Download the Crying Plan and find more advice at https://iconcope.org/download/crying-plan

Please contact your community midwife, health visitor or GP if you need some professional support.

I - Infant crying is normal and it will stop. Babies start to cry more frequently from around 2 weeks of age. The crying may get more frequent and last longer. After 8 weeks of age babies start to cry less each week.

C- Comfort methods can sometimes soothe the baby and the crying will stop. Think are they: hungry, tired, or in need of a nappy change? Try simple calming techniques such as singing to the baby or going for a walk.

O - It’s OK to walk away if you have checked the baby is safe and the crying is getting to you. After a few minutes when you are feeling calm, go back and check on the baby.

N - Never, ever shake or hurt a baby. It can cause lasting brain damage or death. If you are worried that your baby is unwell contact your GP or call NHS 111.

It's okay to feel a mix of emotions about sleep and rest. Some nights, it’s easy to drift off; other times, it can feel frustrating or restless.
