Many thanks to all our guests for their stays at Ceolwulph Cottage over the last 15 years. It has been a pleasure to meet so many delightful people and to introduce them to Ceolwulph Cottage and the local area. The comments in the 'Guest Book' have filled me with pride and happiness, knowing that so many guests enjoyed their stay at the cottage as well as the many wonderful locations and attractions in beautiful Northumberland. Having ceased my holiday let business on 4th April 2025, I am now moving onto other avenues and travel adventures of my own!

So glad to hear puffin numbers have stabilised on the Farne Islands. A while ago, I overheard a small child asking to see the 'muffins' again.. that made me smile too!

Just two minutes walk from Ceolwulph Cottage

If you are planning a fun family day out in Northumberland then look no further than Warkworth Castle with its magnificent cross-shaped keep crowning a hilltop above the River Coquet.

For those that like wildlife, you may be interested to know that a few puffins have recently been spotted rafting on the water near the Farne Islands. So it won't be too long before they return in big numbers for their nesting season on the Farne Islands and also on Coquet Island, a sea bird sanctuary approx. 1 mile from Amble harbour.

Puffin Cruises operate from the harbour at Amble, a couple of miles down the road from Ceolwulph Cottage. Puffin season is between April and July but the peak breeding season is May and June, so Amble Puffin Festival takes place in late May to celebrate the Coquet Island puffins!

Ceolwulph Cottage was decorated for the festive period today and the snowy season arrived in Warkworth at the same time too! Still some availability for the New Year celebrations (4nts or 7nts) and a few short breaks in early December. See our website for details.
