Wildlife Estates Scotland welcomes new Chair

We are pleased to announce Alan Balfour as the new Chair of Wildlife Estates Scotland. Alan is taking over from Miles Montgomerie, who held the post since 2023.

Alan said: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Chair of WES and look forward to working with members across Scotland. Miles Montgomerie has shown an outstanding commitment over the past three years and I hope to build on that momentum.”

Alan owns Scourie Estate, a crofting estate in the Northwest Highlands with level 2 WES accreditation. Alan is also Chairman of Scottish Salmon Education and Research Fund, Convenor of West Sutherland Fisheries District Board and a member of Scottish Land & Estates’ Highland Committee. He also has extensive experience managing rural businesses.
