As a publication that started from the ground up without any backing from any sponsors or established media outlets, we came a long way over the course of 3 years. From what started as a 32 page magazine in early 2022 grew into a 60 page publication that featured a mesmerising array of aspiring of artists and crafters and 7 brilliant writers, essayists and journalists.

Not to mention our brilliant Digital Editor, Dan, who built our marvellous digital archive and our wonderful copyeditor, who was also the magazine's ghost poet, who made sure the text flowed seamlessly.

We almost got there. If it was 1995 as opposed to 2025, I think we would have. Though unfortunately less people are willing to pay for what they read (even if its top quality stuff like ours!) and advertisers are less willing to promote in print.

A huge thank you again to all our thousands of readers who picked up a copy of our magazine over the few years our magazine was in production.

It's been a blast.

All the best,

Jordan

Thank you all for following us over the past 3 years, though we have now stopped production.

After starting the publication from scratch in early 2022 with nothing but a notepad, it has been a joy to watch the magazine grow and I am sincerely grateful to the hundreds of subscribers, artists and contributors who have got involved with Art Etc. over the years. Indeed, thank you for sharing with me your marvellous stories and for reading the magazine.

You can still read all 4000 of our articles online in our archive and get our pinted back issues. We may also produce a Yearbook in the future of all the artists we have featured (so keep an eye out!) but we will no longer be producing monthly issues for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for your interest and, if you're an artist, writer, poet, then I wish you all the best with your future creative endeavours.

In this month's issue we explore some of humanity's most pressing questions through art. Indeed, is technology making us less human? What is 'good' art?

We also interview Jennifer here, the talented artist on the cover, along with a host of many other great sculptors, mosaicists and illustrators.

🖌👓🖋 What some of our columnists are talking about this month:

> Photographer, Beki Cowey observes a selection of brilliant artists from Northern England.

> Painter, Caro Lestòn heads down to London to give her hilariously hard talking opinion on the latest exhibitions and discussions.

> Librarian & Artist, Donna Holmes provides us with her wonderful insights when it comes to nature illustrations within books.

>Lecturer, Dr. Davies

🎨🏺PLUS:

> Deep articles from the Editor.

>Articles from the readers.

>Evocative Poetry by our 3 brilliant regular poets, Dan Husband, Daniel Moreschi and AJ.

AND MUCH MORE.

'An illustrator in perhaps the truest form of the word; Clare expresses not so much in the way of emotion in her work but other-worldly concepts. Behind each of these illustrations lies not only a story but, as we shall uncover, immensely deep and interconnected themes of nature, spiritualism and folklore...'

Exploring the World Through the Lens: A Spotlight on Topographic Photographer Julian McKenny

'Julian is very much a topographic photographer (someone who attempts to capture human altered landscapes). Yet you won't find any significant landmarks in his work, but instead 'the overlooked, the unseen and the unnoticed' edges of places - be it urban backstreets or rustic caravans'

Today we're again taking a look back at our very first issue. When creating this edition, I asked my good friend, another marvellous pointilist artist, James Everley, if he would like to get involved with the new independent art mag I was starting.

At the time he was still living in the UK, so he was kind enough to meet up with me and chat about his most recent artworks.
Since then, his artworks have continued to evolve. Though, if you would like to get an insight into this fantastic evolution, and all the brilliant themes behind his works, then make sure to read his interview with Art Etc. in our digital archive.

As you may have seen, James has also started tattooing. We're aiming to cover this new adventure of his in a follow up article soon - so keep your eyes peeled!
