Joining presenters Abdul Rais and Rani Kaur will be guest Hilaria Asumu who is a councillor, health advocate and kidney transplant survivor. Diagnosed with kidney failure in 2008 following pregnancy complications, she underwent a decade of dialysis before receiving a life-saving transplant in 2018. Her experience inspired her to establish the WSH BME Kidney Network, promoting organ donation and addressing health disparities in Black and under-served communities. In 2023, she was then elected as a councillor for Walkden South in Salford, championing healthcare reform and community empowerment. A mother of two, Hilaria Asumu is also building a free dialysis centre in Edo State, Nigeria, to support patients unable to afford treatment.

We would like to thank respected guests Nader Khan and Dr Bano Murtuja for joining presenter Amina Iqbal during the weekly ‘Taleem Kyoun’ radio show on Thursday 3rd July 2025 on Pendle Community Radio - Awaz 103.1FM

During the LIVE radio show, our guests discussed a number of topics including the importance of a happy marriage, advice and tips on good parenting and the benefits of homeschooling.

Dr Bano Murtuja has been a student of traditional Islamic sciences for over 20 years. She is the author and narrator of the critically acclaimed podcast ‘Stories from the Seerah’ of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace & Blessings Be Upon Him). She teaches the biography of the Prophet as well as Islamic belief to adults and children, alongside running a three year Islamic Studies curriculum for children that is available both in person and online. Dr Bano Murtuja homeschools her three children, runs a homeschooling pod called Manifest Grace Homeschooling Pod and is developing an English, Maths and Science curriculum that is based on the Seerah of the Prophet. Nader Khan is a Canadian Muslim Nasheed artist, arts educator and social activist. Over the last 20 years, he has toured and performed across Canada, USA, South Africa, UK, West Indies, Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore in solo performances, and on tours with other internationally renowned artists and scholars. His work brings together service and devotion by channeling 100% of sales revenue from future albums into humanitarian causes. He is currently working on 3 projects - an album of Ba’alawi Qasa’id bringing to life songs with a 1000 year tradition, Moonrise - his favourite song he has ever written and Beloved, a composition with Sudanese undertones. Throwback to Saturday 14th June 2025…

Nelson witnessed history with thousands upon thousands attending the ‘Eid in the Park Festival' held at Victoria Park in Nelson and organised by Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF)

Thankyou once again to all of you who attended from Nelson and the surrounding towns for a spectacular celebration of community spirit!

From the electrifying Qawwali rhythms to Mr Tee King Of Desserts - Innovator, Original and BEST legendary ice cream that had queues winding through the park, every moment became a cherished memory. The infectious energy of Omar & Hana English had children and adults alike excited together, while Pendle Community Radio - Awaz 103.1FM perfectly captured the magic unfolding at every corner.

Our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who was involved in creating history. To the amazing families who filled the park with laughter, you are the true essence of this festival!

Joining presenter Shakil Salam at 4.15pm will be Alex Maybury and Melissa who both work as Tuberculosis specialist nurses covering the East Lancashire area. They look after all the patients in the area who are being investigated for TB, or who have been diagnosed and started on treatment. They also manage side effects and monitor the patients, to try and ensure the patient can remain compliant with their treatment. Alongside this they carry vaccination clinics for children who are eligible for their BCG injections. During the LIVE radio show they will be talking about TB, the signs and symptoms and the treatment available.

At 5pm we will then be joined by guest Sanam Taj who is a Breast Screening Awareness and Uptake Officer at the East Lancashire Breast Screening Service. She is involved in raising awareness about breast cancer and promoting participation in the NHS Breast Screening Programme. Her work includes attending events, providing information and engaging with local communities. Sanam Taj helps ensure women in East Lancashire are aware of their eligibility for breast screening and the importance of attending their appointments.
