🎶 Calling All Bagpipers – Help Us Celebrate Burns Night at Watford House 🎶

We are reaching out to our wonderful local community in the hope of finding someone who can play the bagpipes and help us deliver a truly traditional Burns Night celebration at Watford House.

Our Home Manager, Joyce, is a very proud Scottish lady and has set out with real purpose to honour tradition and deliver an authentic Burns Night experience for our residents. This is about more than an event — it’s about heritage, connection, and creating moments that truly matter.

📅 Date: Saturday 25th January
⏰ Time needed: Approximately 3.00pm – 4.00pm
📍 Location: Watford House

We will be hosting the full Address to the Haggis, along with plenty of neeps and tatties, laughter, and togetherness. To complete the experience, we are hoping to welcome a bagpiper who can help us mark the occasion in the traditional way and make it a celebration to remember for our residents, their families and friends.

🎆 Neighbourhood Notice – Firework Celebration at Watford House 🎆

As part of our long-standing tradition of marking special moments together, Watford House will be holding a small, private firework celebration for our residents, their families and friends as we welcome in the New Year.

📅 Date: Wednesday 31st December 2025
⏰ Time: Fireworks will take place between 4.45pm and 6.00pm
📍 Location: Watford House Grounds

We wanted to proactively share this information as a courtesy to our neighbours. We are particularly mindful of those with pets, livestock, or anyone who may be affected by loud noises and flashes.

Please be aware that there will be some loud bangs during this time window.

This celebration allows our residents to come together with their loved ones in a safe, supported environment to mark the New Year, something that means a great deal to their wellbeing and sense of belonging.

What a wonderful, joy-filled day at Watford House!

Our annual Christmas party was an absolute blast, with residents, staff and friends all coming together to celebrate the season. We had fantastic musical entertainment from the Musical Moments team that really brought the Christmas spirit to life. Plus, all our staff got into the festive mood with Christmas jumpers and encouraged everyone to get up dancing and singing. A fantastic buffet from the catering team and the whole home was full of the spirit of Christmas!

🍦✨ Goodbye summer or too cold for icecream??

Our talented cook Lesley has been busy in the kitchen whipping up cake ice creams! Cones filled with soft sponge, topped with cream and sprinkles – they look just like fresh ice creams but with a clever twist.

It’s not just about a sweet treat – it’s about being creative and thoughtful with how we support everyone’s nutrition and maintain healthy weights here at Watford House. We’re so proud of Lesley’s imagination and her flair for making food fun! 👩‍🍳💡💖

🎃✨ Pumpkin season is here at Watford House! Today we got stuck in opening up our pumpkins and scooping out all the insides – lots of laughs, memories and a bit of mess along the way! 🥄🍂

Tomorrow the real creativity begins… who knows what spooky (or silly!) faces will appear once we get carving? 👻🎨

🐹✨ We have had two very special visitors at Watford House recently – Rolo and Charlie the guinea pigs! 🐾

Our residents were treated to cuddles, smiles, and plenty of reminiscing as the little ones made their way from lap to lap. The visit from one of our staff members who brought these fluffy guests in sparked wonderful stories of much-loved pets from years gone by, filling the room with laughter and warmth.

It’s no secret that pets bring more than just joy – they help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and even boost those all-important feel-good endorphins. Judging by the smiles all around, Rolo and Charlie certainly worked their magic! 💛 Thank you Dion Dyer!

🌟 Arts in Care Homes Day with NAPA 🌟

This year we asked our residents to let their creativity shine – and what a result! 🎨✂️

First, they designed their own fashion looks using everyday materials to make bold and beautiful creations. Then, with a little digital magic, they used computers to upload the images and let AI transform their designs into real looking outfits. 👗🕺

The results? Absolutely fabulous. From foil ballgowns to flower-covered dresses, our residents have proven that imagination has no limits!

👏 A huge well done to everyone who took part – and thank you to NAPA for inspiring us to celebrate arts, creativity and community in such an exciting way.
