🎨✨ We’re busy behind the scenes today getting ready for tomorrow's NAPA’s Arts in Care Homes Day!

NAPA (The National Activity Providers Association) helps us bring creativity and joy into our homes and tomorrow we’re going green with art 🌍💚.

Our heroes this year? L.S. Lowry and Vivienne Westwood – two local icons who showed the world how powerful art and design can be. 👩‍🎨👗

Residents have been painting in the style of Lowry and today we’re diving into fashion design using leaves and recycling materials.… let’s see what we can create!

Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow’s showcase – it’s going to be inspiring ✨️

Yesterday was International Music Day and we celebrated with guess what? Lots of music, song and dance! 🎵🎸💿🎼🎷🥁🕺💃

Residents had to find the origins of dances and give us a twirl on the dance floor!

Our afternoon was an educational rollercoaster with Seth, one of our carers who brought to life his own traditions and cultural background from Ghana.

We learnt how Music used for festivals, burials and for the King.
We learnt some beats of the Adowa dance and watched Akwasidae, the festival people of Ghana that happens every 40 days!

Seth was so humble to share his love for his country and his people. He shared the special bond Ghana has with King Charles. The residents and staff really enjoyed learning all about and dancing to the beats. Thanks Seth! 🎵🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🎵

Over the last two weeks we have been celebrating, promoting and saying thank you to our fabulous carers and everyone who works in care.

Last week was and this week was All our carers have been given gifts, treats and we have been asking why they work in care. They are truly dedicated at Watford House and we are proud of our teams. So Thank you!

We have been very busy this week with Motivational Monday 💪,Turn It Up Tuesday 🎵 Wellbeing Wednesday 🌱 Tasty Thursday 🥞 & Feel Good Friday 🕺🥳.

We have had a Therapy dog in to see everyone as well as the New Mills Beavers who helped residents tidy up and plan a spread of colour in the garden. We had a taste test session trying to guess what foods were from which countries and dressing up and thanking our real hero's our carers.

Well what a day and we went an won best vehicle! All the bugs made by our lovely residents at Watford House and some even got to be in the parade. What a hoot! We all had so much fun! Thanks to the incredible partnership we have with Youth Matters we allow our residents to do amazing things.

Another great carnival day ! Both Youth Matters and Watford House collaborated again this year in decorating our minibus and we got a certificate for our efforts! Many many thanks again to our volunteers for helping us get everything ready for today. ❤️❤️

Bee 🐝sure to look for us at the parade today at New Mills Carnival, our residents have been so busy making decorations for the Youth Matters New Mills CIC mini bus and some residents will be on board taking part in the parade. The residents will be dressed as bees and some will be handing out bee bombs to allow you to grow your own bee friendly flowers at home.

Take a look at some of the decorations our residents have been creating for our displays. From flowers to bees with a few wild animals too! They have been discussing the importance bees have to our world and our existence. Residents have been choosing their favorite type of honey and honey flavored things, ranking toblerone as the top hit!

Everyone is very excited to be part of the town festival today rain or shine!

We are absolutely buzzing! We are teaming up with Youth Matters New Mills CIC in New Mills again this year for the New Mills Carnival! We are having bugs and insects as our focus but promoting the benefits of bees! 🐝🐜🪳🐛🐞

Watford House is always a hive of activity and so we have been preparing all sorts of decorations, costumes and things to hand out during the parade.

We strive to allow our residents to be part of their society and love getting our residents out and about. Everyone matters at Watford House and we believe that our home and our town has a place for everyone! “Where everyone beelongs" 🐝
