š¦Itās National Ice Cream Day! šØ
And because I am a big fan of both ice cream and completely unnecessary little facts, I thought weād have a quick natter about why itās celebrated.
National Ice Cream Day takes place on the third Sunday of July, during National Ice Cream Month. The tradition began in the United States in 1984, when President Ronald Reagan officially declared July a month to celebrate everyoneās favourite frozen treat, with the third Sunday set aside as National Ice Cream Day.
And honestly? I think thatās a pretty good reason to celebrate.
Because ice cream is about so much more than just a sweet treat on a hot day. Itās childhood memories, seaside trips, pudding after a Sunday dinner, sharing a tub on the sofa, trying a completely bonkers new flavour just because you can, and that very important moment of deciding whether youāre going to have one scoop or if today is a two scoop kind of day*.
*Itās always two scoops!
Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint choc chip, something covered in bits of biscuit⦠thereās an ice cream for everyone. šØ
So today, I think we should all take a moment to celebrate the small joys. Grab yourself an ice cream and enjoy every single yummy mouthful.
Whatās your favourite ice cream flavour? And, more importantly, are you a cone or a tub person? š
