An enjoyable weekend for the male golfers at Southwell Golf Club who took part in the Men’s Club Championship over Saturday and Sunday. After the first round, defending champion Sam Wright held a narrow one shot lead over Gerry Crerand (Junior) and Andy Duckmanton. Today, Sam managed to maintain his composure and became the Club Champion for the 3rd consecutive season. The Club Shield awarded to the golfer with the best nett score was won by Daniel Price whose two round nett total of 133 gave him victory on countback ahead of Steve Best. Many congratulations to the winners.

Another great result this evening for Southwell Golf Club’s Men’s B Team in the quarter final of the Taskers Trophy Inter-Club. Drawn at home against Branston Golf Club, Southwell recorded an excellent 5.5 - 1.5 victory to progress to the semi finals.

A really enjoyable Lady Captain’s Day at Southwell Golf Club on Saturday and many thanks to Jackie Hibbert for organising and hosting the day. Some great scores in both the Ladies and Men’s competitions with Neil Dodd winning the Men’s competition with 38 points on countback from Paul Ackroyd and Dave Williams. The Ladies were competing for an honours board competition, the Nottingham Building Society Trophy; Ann Watson’s 40 points gave her second place on countback ahead of Gill Ruane but the winner of the trophy was Charlie Hall with an excellent 41 points. Great playing everyone.

Wishing Jackie Hibbert, the Lady Captain of Southwell Golf Club the very best for an enjoyable Lady Captain’s Day tomorrow at the club. Some great performances at Southwell Golf Club today. Firstly, former Lady Captain Riemie Coulson shot a nett 69 to win the Ladies Midsummer Cup by two strokes from Sharon McLeod…congratulations Riemie. Then it was the turn of our Men’s team playing against Beauchief Golf Club in the 4th round of the Taskers Trophy Inter-Club. Our Men put in an outstanding performance to win 7-0 and now progress to the quarter finals.

The Lady members of Southwell Golf Club held their Club Championship over two rounds on Wednesday and today. Thanks to our greenkeepers, David and Jack for their efforts in the preceding days to present the course in a really good condition.
Winner of the Charlesworth Cup for the best nett score was Gill Ruane with Sheila Pawson just 2 shots behind. Former Lady Captain Charlie Hall was leading the gross competition after Day 1 with a margin of 7 shots. Jayne Bingham made a tremendous effort to overhaul Charlie today but fell just one shot short meaning Charlie collected the Charlesworth Trophy as overall Lady Club Champion.

A great day at Southwell Golf Club yesterday for President’s Day hosted by Val James. A memorable day for Mark Duignam who hit a perfect shot on the 18th for a hole in one!! The overall winner of the competition and winner of the President’s Vase was Ann Watson with an excellent 43 points defeating Martin Firth on countback. Winners of the team trophy were Charlie Hall, Andy Duckmanton and Nick Bingham. Thanks to Val from the members for an enjoyable day.

All competitors seemed to have a really good day yesterday at Southwell Golf Club for the Southwell & District Lions Club CIO Golf Day. Twelve of the thirteen teams were Men’s teams but the only Ladies team prevailed with an excellent score of 90 Stableford points. Congratulations to past Lady Captain at Southwell, Riemie Coulson who teamed up with Norwood Park golfers, Jenny Whitham, Denise Langley and Jane St John Jones for a great score, pushing a Southwell team of Brian Watson, Nick Bingham, Richard Nevin and Roger Ruane into second place.

Some great scores today at Southwell Golf Club in the Ladies Spring Cup. Sharon McLeod played some great golf to score 40 points but was kept off the top spot by Glenice Walton with a winning total of 41 points. Congratulations Glenice from everyone at the club.
