Before we put the out of office on, we'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year by sharing a lovely little Ecard we made for our friends at the RAF Benevolent fund.

Feedback included "a breath of fresh air" from their CEO and some lovely comments from their various contacts, beneficiaries and supporters.

How I became a reluctant voiceover artist... I've always recorded my own guide voiceovers when starting a new film or animation to help with timings and to also give clients the opportunity to hear the script and check tone, intonation and pronunciation before sending over to the professional VO artists. As it's part of my process and it makes my life easier, I never charge for this. As a result though, many clients have opted to just "stick with" mine. I never encourage this (who likes hearing their own voice?!) and I have many amazing professional voiceover artists I love to work with and would much prefer to use but it can help keep costs down when clients really need it. And, after nearly 20 years (yikes!! 😮🙈😬) I suppose I've got reasonably good at it now!

When you reach out to an old client to see how things are going with the Health and Safety induction films you made a while (5 years!! 😵) ago and this is the reply you get ☺️.

It was such a great project to work on and was wonderful to be given the freedom to have fun with what can often be a painfully dry subject.

Genuine question... how are people feeling at the moment about the use of AI? I've been very dubious so-far and, from what I've experienced, I've seen mostly only comical results and I've never used it professionally. BUT, today a client asked about creating an edit with a mixture of stock and AI-generated footage as there was no budget and very little time to shoot our own stuff. I did a couple of tests and they didn't look AWFUL. But I suggested we'd need to be honest and caveat any AI-generated content. She asked why, and I wasn't sure what to say. Transparency? Honesty? Maintaining trust? It's such a grey area and something that is clearly going to impact the way we work going forward, I guess we can't keep avoiding it forever. What are your thoughts... scary, essential or just an inevitable/unavoidable development we need to start embracing??
