It going to be hot one today.🔥🌞
Are you protecting your skin?
Most people know they should wear SPF, but one of the biggest mistakes I see is relying on the SPF that’s built into a moisturiser or foundation.
The problem isn’t that these products are bad, it’s that they simply aren’t designed to give the same level of protection as a dedicated sunscreen.
For daily protection, your SPF should be a separate product and ideally a minimum of SPF 30.
Many people focus on the SPF number, but that only tells you about UVB protection. UVB rays are responsible for sunburn.
What many people don’t realise is that UVA rays pe*****te deeper into the skin and are a major contributor to premature ageing, including:
☀️ Fine lines and wrinkles
☀️ Loss of collagen and elasticity
☀️ Pigmentation
☀️ Uneven skin tone
☀️ Skin laxity
Unlike UVB, UVA rays are present all year round, even on cloudy days and through windows.
This is why UVA protection is just as important, if not more important, when it comes to maintaining healthy, youthful-looking skin.
Many foundations and moisturisers contain an SPF rating, but often provide limited ( if any) UVA protection. Even when they do contain UVA filters, most people don’t apply enough product to achieve the level of protection stated on the packaging.
Think of SPF in your moisturiser or foundation as a little bonus, not your main protection.
A dedicated broad spectrum SPF 30 or above should be the final step in your morning skincare routine, every single day of the year.
Your future skin will thank you for it.
Because when it comes to ageing well, SPF isn’t just skincare.
It’s one of the best investments you can make in your skin. ☀️
