Radio 1’s Jamie Laing – co-founder of gourmet confectionery brand Candy Kittens – and LadBible and UniLad founder Alex Partridge have been announced as headline speakers for a North East business event.

The duo will be part of the line up for SunFest, the headline event taking place during this year’s Sunderland Business Week, running from 13 – 17 October.

They will be joined by North East Mayor Kim McGuiness and a GB Team athlete who will be named shortly.

The day will also include live talks on everything from AI to emotional intelligence and workshops on business development to social media marketing, as well as live music and performances.

As Sunderland prepares for its next Restaurant Week, diners are preparing to try Michelin level food as part of a special event with Tommy Banks.

The chef – whose restaurants The Black Swan in Oldstead and Roots in York both hold a Michelin star – is collaborating with SAFC and bringing Banks on the Wear, a new prestigious dining experience, to the club.
Also launching within the Stadium of Light, 76 Yards, a street food-style premium experience which will feature Tommy’s own speciality range of pies.

And now those who book for the Sunderland Restaurant Week experience will get the exclusive opportunity to enjoy a unique 76 Yards.

The special one-off event will run on Saturday 6 September – the opening day of restaurant week – and run between noon and 3pm.

Diners will get a welcome drink, a one course street-food style meal and an exclusive Tommy Banks recipe print at a special offer price of £25.
