(ad) 10 Festive Experiences in Newcastle to Book Now
Newcastle is buzzing with festive activities this December and this post is sharing some of the highlights and best activities to book now.
🎅1 - Newcastle’s Christmas Village : https://www.christmasvillagenewcastle.co.uk/
Located in Old Eldon Square, visitors can enjoy a range of activities in one location. How about Stories with Santa or Baking with Mrs Claus? You can book a Festive Show including The Grinch or Ice Kingdom or relax with a Classic Christmas Film as part of Festive Flix.
There’s also a Vintage Carousel, Big Wheel, Festive food for sale, Marshmallow Toasing, Letterbox for posting letters to Santa and a Selfie Station.
🌹2 - Beauty and the Beast at Northern Stage : https://northernstage.co.uk/whats-on/beauty-and-the-beast/
Northern Stage Christmas Shows are absolutely fantastic and I always book every year. I am extra excited to see their twist on Beauty and the Beast. I’ve been told we can expect live music from an Insect Orchestra and spellbinding staging, costumes and storytelling. Tickets from £12.
🎅3 - A Canny Christmas at Discovery Museum : https://www.northeastmuseums.org.uk/discoverymuseum/whats-on/a-canny-christmas-grotto
Discovery Museum is turning full on Geordie for their festive offering this year. Expect Black & White Elves, a Proper Geordie Santa, Christmas Crafts, Hot Chocolates and Sweet Treats.
🦖4 - The Great Christmas Dinosaur Show at Great North Museum : https://www.northeastmuseums.org.uk/greatnorthmuseum/whats-on/the-great-dinosaur-christmas-show
Expect a Roaring Good Time at Great North Museum with their Dinosaur Christmas Show. Meet Dinos in Interactive Performances which blend Science and Sparkle and make some Jurassic Memories with the family. £12.99pp
🤖5 - A Town Called Christmas at Gosforth Civic Theatre : https://www.gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk/whats-on/spend-your-christmas-at-gosforth-civic-theatre/a-town-called-christmas
Gosforth Civic Theatre is whisking audiences off to A Town Called Christmas for one weekend only (21 & 22 Dec).
Expect magical puppetry, a town where chocolate coins are currency and twinkling fairy lights before it all goes wrong. Can a glitching robot save the day? This 55 minute magical performance is gorgeous for all ages and the perfect heart-warming treat just before the big day.
🌟6 - Enchanted City Newcastle : https://www.enchanted-city.co.uk/
Enchanted City is a brand new Winter Event taking over Northumbria University Campus for one weekend only this December (11-14th). The theme is Space and visitors can enjoy space-inspired projections, light installations, fire shows, live performances, interactive space themed workshops and more. All ages welcome.
🎅7 - The Santa Experience at Science at Life : https://www.life.org.uk/whats-on/event/the-santa-experience/
Ever wondered what Santa does with all of those unwanted sprouts? Now is the chance to find out as you visit Santa at home (Life Science Centre) and enjoy an interactive Christmas-themed Science show with the main man himself.
There’s also a chance to enjoy hot chocolate with elves, enjoy what I think is the best Planetarium Show I’ve ever seen (where you get to fly around the globe with Santa on Christmas Eve). A Gift from Santa and admission to the rest of the centre is included.
🎅8 - Breakfast with Santa at Caledonian Hotel
The Caledonian Hotel in Jesmond has organised a special breakfast with Santa which is reasonably priced and includes unlimited tea/coffee for grown ups, bottomleess juice for kids. After a full breakfast and festive crafts, you can visit Santa in his Grotto and will receive a small gift too. Call 0191 281 7881 to book.
⛸9 - Ice Skating & Marshmallow Toasting at Life Science Centre : https://www.life.org.uk/whats-on/special-christmas-events-in-newcastle-2025/
Ice Skating at Life is an absolute must over the festive season. The open-air ice rink is the perfect place to create festive memories with the family. Don’t miss marshmallow toasting over the ice rink’s fire pits afterwards.
🧞♂️10 - Aladdin at Theatre Royal Panto : https://www.theatreroyal.co.uk/whats-on/
Danny and Clive are back for their 20th year with the panto classic, Aladdin. Expect dancing geese, lots of silly fun, a Wicked Witch, West End Stars and yes, Joe will probably sing again. Don’t tell the others but this is our favourite and we think the best panto in the North East. Limited tickets are available.
