Look out for these major roadworks from next week!

🚧 Important Travel Update 🚧

Starting next week, major upgrades begin on the A167(M) Central Motorway’s elevated viaduct—from Great North Road to New Bridge Street roundabout—to futureproof this vital route.
We understand there is ongoing disruption from the Tyne Bridge restoration, and other major projects across the region, but they are long-term projects spanning years, and these repairs cannot wait.
We have secured the funding, and we are taking advantage of the reduced number of road users in the area while the bridge restoration continues.

🔹 This £9 million improvement project will last 18 months
🔹 Traffic restrictions include lane closures & full daytime and overnight closures
🔹 Future proofing the central motorway for generations

Some key dates to know 👇
📅11-15 August (Nights, 8pm-6am): Full overnight closures southbound
📅From 13 – 15 August (Nights, 8pm-6am): Full overnight closures northbound
📅From 14 August (Days and Nights): Northbound carriageway reduced to one lane during the day with weekday overnight closures until the end of September

Look out for a wet and windy few days in the north east. A storm will bring windy conditions on Monday and Tuesday. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning - an unusual thing to do at this time of year.
