Thank you so much to everyone for the kind words on our previous post. It's heartening to know we've had some sort of an impact on the region, and further afield, over the last few years.

As many of you know, Arcus was driven by a will to create new routes into an industry that is vastly underrepresented in the North East. Too many talented people were either having to relocate to get a first foot on a professional ladder, moving long distances away from support networks in order to receive first professional credits - often battling against an internship culture that disproportionately favoured the wealthy and resourced, or, were faced with the option of forgetting their ambitions altogether.

The drive to create something that could facilitate the talented people in the region is what kept Arcus going, especially Michael - our only born and bred North Eastern director and stalwart advocate for baldies across Tyneside - so, although we should not forget how difficult the current environment is, especially for newcomers, we wanted to celebrate the people we've worked with over the years, the incredibly talented folk without whom Arcus could not have existed, without whom Arcus would not have been such a nice place to be, and without whom the region would be at loss.

Staff, freelancers, collaborators, and both school and university work experience-ers - you're all lush. To list all of your names here would take forever, and there are so many of you that manifest the modest, camera shy creative, that we can't find your faces in our rogues gallery - you know who you are.

Thank you to you all, we've shared laughs, anxieties, and learned so much from each and every one of you. A perfect cup of tea shall forever be made with reverence to He Man's skin tone, the Jurassic Park theme tune will always be hummed with the words "I'm a Dinosaur, I'm a Dinosaur", 'nerd clamps' will be issued, board games at lunch time remain the ideal, late night /early morning Karaoke will continue to exist in the quantum realm of being both the funniest thing in the world and the most terrible decision ever made, and finally, that although opportunity is currently tight, talent, imagination and hard work is everywhere!

It has been an absolute privilege to know all of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you ... for everything!

After a very difficult few years for the animation industry, and fifteen years after founding Arcus Animation Studios, we're sad to officially announce that our doors have closed.

Well, we're sad, yes, but we also don't want to lose sight of what has been achieved. When we founded Arcus back in 2010, and landed a job to turn CBBC's Hacker and Dodge into a short cartoon series, we had no idea that it was the beginning of a sometimes rocky, but always fulfilling, fifteen years long journey.

Since then, Arcus has created short and long form work for broadcast and streaming, large scale multimedia arts events, immersive domes, collaborated with artists, dancers, actors,  musicians, technicians, programmers, and set up community animation groups for the region's children, and networks for professional animators and artists.

In 2010 the agenda of austerity that particularly hit the North East, was but a glint in an Eton boy's eye. Arcus had a main goal of providing the North East's animators with a new platform for employment, to perfect their craft, gain experience, and provide a reason to remain in the region… to train and retain.

We're incredibly proud to have been the first step in many people’s fledgling careers, people that have gone on to work on some of the most iconic children's properties in the world, create industry shifting community initiatives - and most importantly, that are just really canny.

Over the next few days and weeks we'll be posting out a few of our highlights from the past fifteen years, talking about the fantastic staff and collaborators we've worked with, and finally setting a date and venue for a farewell Arcus Partaeeee.
