190 million year old Pleuroceras ammonite fossils from the Upper Pliensbachian 😍

Pleuroceras paucicostatum
(Pauci - few, Costatum - ribs)

A less densely ribbed species of Pleuroceras compared to others such as P. Hawskerense.
These nodules are loaded with all sorts of interesting sh*te; bivalves, gastropods, other fossilised mush but also can be quite septarian, which is the reason for the veins of calcite you see striking through the rock like lightning. Commonly it blasts through whatever fossils are inside, which it has in this rock, distorting the big one slightly and completely infilling the centre of the smaller specimen. It’s all good though I hold no hard feelings towards the calcite vein ✌🏻
