A friend of mine Christian Rasmussen, IE EpicBanastard only got himself married yesterday. So prepare yourselves..... this is the captain speaking.
There are many kinds of ships in the world, there are cargo ships, passenger ships, and then, there are relationships. Marriage is like sailing a ship across a vast, seemingly endless ocean, and on this day, the day of your marriage, you are ready to set sail. You have both finished building your ship, and today you are ready to cast off lines, and embark on the long voyage of marriage.
Over the last few years, you have both prepared you're ship for this voyage. There are many things that you will need onboard. You will need a Compass & charts, for the times that you are lost. You will need a sextant, to find your position from the sun, moon and stars. You will need wind in your sails/coal in your bunkers/diesel in your fuel tanks, (depending on your persuasion) to move your ship forward through the seas. You will need tins of paint, and paint brushes to stop the ship from Rusting. And lastly, You're ship will need to have a radio, to communicate to each other, and to the rest of the world.
Each of these things serve a valuable purpose, on the ship of marriage.
The Compass, Charts & Sextant represent you're life plan. Guiding you to the end destination that you both wish to reach.
The Sun, moon & stars represents the family and friends around you. Some are further away and some are very close, but no matter how cloudy the sky becomes, they will always be there for you.
The Wind/coal/diesel in the tanks represents the happiness & determination, which can be found in each other, Pushing you forward through the good and the rough seas ahead.
The tins of paint, represents the need to keep your relationship maintained, so it is not allowed to rust away. The brushes represent your skills at keeping this relationship maintained.
The ships radio represents you're ability to communicate with each other. There will be times you need to use it, to send out a MAYDAY to each other, and to others.
During this voyage, you will encounter heavy seas & strong winds, the possibility of getting lost, and maybe running hard aground on the rocks, and perhaps even the odd hurricane or two. These will test how well you have built you're ship. But following every storm, there comes a calm, This is the time to rebuild, repair and maintain you're ship, making it stronger than it was before.
One day, you will of course, arrive at you're destination. It will be a long and sometimes frightening voyage, but remember, you will never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to loose sight of the shore.
Make your voyage a fantastic one.
Ladies & Gentlemen, I would like to propose a toast:
To the good ship, Christian, and Ellis Rasmussen.
May god bless this ship, and all whom sail in her.
