PORTRAIT WORKSHOP – LEARN TO TAKE BETTER PHOTOS

Want to improve your portrait photography, build confidence working with models and learn how to get more from any location?

On 4th October, I’ll be teaming up with EmmJs Model Management for a small, hands-on Portrait Photography Workshop on the streets of Port Talbot, using the urban surroundings to create some cool and creative images.

Our model for the day will be the fantastic Megan, who is about to take another exciting step in her modelling career, working with a top model agency in London. So this could be your chance to get a shoot with her before her diary gets considerably busier... and her rates considerably higher! 😁📸

Between myself and Emmjs, we’ll be bringing decades of photography and modelling experience together and packing as much as we can into a few hours.

We’ll cover everything from how to engage and communicate with a model, giving direction and creating natural poses, through to choosing camera settings, finding interesting compositions and learning how to use the environment around you to frame and enhance your photographs.

We’ll also get into off-camera lighting, including one of my favourite simple techniques for balancing ambient light with flash. Once you understand it, it takes much of the guesswork out of using flash outdoors and can completely transform your portraits.

And most importantly, this is going to be hands-on. You’ll be taking photographs, trying different ideas and getting help and advice as we go.

To make sure everyone gets plenty of shooting time and individual attention, there are ONLY 3 PHOTOGRAPHER PLACES AVAILABLE.

That means you get the benefit of learning as part of a small group, sharing ideas and seeing how others approach the same scene, without standing behind a crowd of photographers waiting for your turn.

A New Chapter for Ffocws Magazine

After much discussion, we've made the difficult decision to place Ffocws Magazine on hold, and we will no longer be producing new editions for the foreseeable future.

When we launched Ffocws, our aim was simple: to celebrate the incredible creativity, talent and photography community across Wales. Along the way, we've had the privilege of showcasing the work of so many talented photographers, models, artists and creatives, and we'd like to thank every single person who submitted work, featured in the magazine or supported us over the past year.

Ironically, one of the greatest successes of Ffocws has been the opportunities it created for us as founders. The magazine opened doors that have led to exciting commercial projects, collaborations and paid work that we simply wouldn't have had otherwise.

As a result, alongside our existing businesses, commitments and personal lives, we can no longer dedicate the time that a publication like Ffocws deserves. Rather than produce something we're not completely proud of, we've decided it's the right time to press pause.

This isn't a goodbye to the Ffocws community. Our website and social media pages will remain online, and if circumstances change in the future, we'd love the opportunity to bring Ffocws back.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, believed in the idea and helped make Ffocws Magazine what it became. We're incredibly proud of what we achieved together.
