The Fire Breathers & Fire Spinners are always a huge hit at our Guy Fawkes Night Celebrations in Kilkeel! โ˜„๏ธ

As soon as the Childrenโ€™s Lantern Parade arrives into the Lower Square, a group of professional Fire Breathers & Fire Spinners will be performing as part of our Stage Effect Fireworks Display! ๐ŸŽ† ๐Ÿงจ

Remember, our Guy Fawkes Night Celebrations will be taking place on ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿด๐˜๐—ต ๐—ก๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ, with the Childrenโ€™s Lantern Parade leaving from Reivers House, Kilkeel at 7.30pm. โœจโœจโœจ

The Guy Fawkes Night Celebration event including the Fire Breathers, Lighting of Beacon, Fireworks Display and the wide range of Childrenโ€™s Entertainment will then take place immediately after the parade in the Lower Square. ๐Ÿชต๐Ÿ”ฅ

This is a ๐—™๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—˜ event and everyone is more than welcome to come along! ๐Ÿคฉ

A Chocolate Apple will be provided to all children taking part in the Lantern Parade, and Lanterns will be available to collect at Reivers House before the parade commences. ๐Ÿฎ

This afternoon, to mark the anniversary of the 1641 Bloody Bridge Massacre at Newcastle, the Schomberg Society held a short service of remembrance in memory of those Scottish and English settlers who were brutally hacked to death at this spot as part of the 1641 Irish Rebellion, which began in October 1641.

Today we were also joined by representatives from Mourne and Castlewellan District Loyal Orders, Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland Harold Henning, Junior Girls and Boys from Mourne District and political representatives.

A special thanks to Mr. Ellis Hanna for leading the service, Wendy Hanna for sharing with us a most fitting poem entitled โ€˜The River Ran Redโ€™, โ€˜The Blue Door Fellasโ€™ Choir from Orangefield LOL 564 for leading the singing accompanied by our Flautist John Shields and also Piper Henry Spencer for performing the lament during the wreath laying.

The horrific events of 1641 remain one of the most terrible periods of Ulster history, which deeply effected many within the Ulster-Scots community and it is so important that we learn the lessons of history and always strive to maintain peace and security for future generations.

Thanks to our volunteers who were busy putting up posters, banners and boards today in Kilkeel ahead of our Guy Fawkes Night Celebration! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Remember, our Guy Fawkes Night Celebrations will take place on ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿด๐˜๐—ต ๐—ก๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ from 7.30pm in Kilkeel.

The evenings celebrations will include a ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ปโ€™๐˜€ ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ, which will leave from Reivers House and make its way through Kilkeel. โœจโœจโœจ

Leading the Parade will be King James VI of Scotland and I of England on horse back, accompanied by Marching Bands, Living History Re-Enactors with Fire Torches, a number of โ€˜Guy Fawkesโ€™ being pulled and carried in the parade, and Much More! ๐Ÿคฉ

Lanterns will be provided for all children wanting to take part in the parade, and a chocolate apple will be given to each child participating! ๐Ÿซ ๐ŸŽ

There will also be a short Act of Remembrance as part of the parade at the Memorial on Knockchree Avenue.

Following the Lantern Parade, the ๐—š๐˜‚๐˜† ๐—™๐—ฎ๐˜„๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ก๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ต๐˜ ๐—–๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฏ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป will commence in the Lower Square, Kilkeel at approximately 8pm.

This will include a Stage Effect Fireworks Display, Lighting of Beacon, Live Musket Firing with Re-Enactors, Petting Farm, Childrenโ€™s Inflatables, Balloon Modelling, Face Painting, Glitter Tattoos, Music, Dance, Live DJ & More! ๐Ÿคฉ

Please note all activities and childrenโ€™s entertainment is provided ๐—™๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—˜ and everyone will be made most welcome! ๐Ÿ™Œ
