Circular Sewing School, this Saturday!

This year’s food festival will be taking place over the weekend of the 6th and 7th of September on the Town Hall grounds in Newtown. Every year we are helped by a team of volunteers who help set up, take down, ensure the smooth running of the event and act as our eyes and ears... making sure that everyone is safe and well looked after, we’d welcome your contribution if you can spare the time. If you volunteer for us you wouldn’t be placed in a position of authority or have any responsibility for others, you’d be guided by our coordinator and protected by our volunteering policy.

We have a variety of positions that we need help with:

Friday the 5th and Sunday the 7th from 4-7pm we need about 6 physically able people to help set up Gazebos, put tables and chairs out and make sure signage is in place.

On Saturday and Sunday daytime we need 2 teams of 2 stewards for each shift: 9.30-12.30, 12.30-3.30 and 3.30-7.30.

On Saturday night we need 3 teams of 2 stewards for each shift: 6-10pm and 10pm -1am

All volunteers will be provided with refreshments, clear directions, hi viz and a guaranteed fun day out... we hope that you can spare the time to help this great event be a continued success!

We have another opportunity which may suit an organisation wishing to fundraise... this year we’ll be introducing re-useable drinking cups to reduce waste and single use plastics. This is a big step forward for us and we’ll be setting up rinsing stations near to the festival bar. If your organisation would like to have a shift on the glass rinse in exchange for having a donations bucket we’d be happy and grateful... please get in touch and we’ll organise a rota.

👏 Round of applause for Talina who finished her fantastic handmade sweatshirt at Circular Sewing School! 🌟

Talina has been sewing with us since the beginning, and her progress really shows what dedication and practice can achieve at any age. For this project, she made her own pattern, worked confidently with stretch fabrics, inserted sleeves, attached ribbing — and even mastered the overlocker!

We already have a great selection of local producers, live music, and plenty of activities to keep the whole family smiling. Whether you’re popping by for a bite, staying all day, or setting up a stall — we’d love to have you with us.

All our garments are handcrafted with care, and often finished by hand – just like this one, using skills passed down through generations. We love creating something unique for special occasions - this beautiful bespoke dress, for a very special young lady, is heading to Ascot Ladies Day. We’ll be keeping an eye out for her on the TV – fingers crossed!

Fire in the Mountain – you’ve restored my faith in humanity!

We’re still reeling from the sheer magic that was Fire in the Mountain. In a world that can often feel scary and unkind, this weekend was a beacon of love, creativity, and community — no judgement, no egos, just free spirits, big hearts, and boundless creativity.

Our clothes upcycling tent became a hub of chaotic creativity — buzzing with energy from kids and adults alike. Together, we rescued old clothes from landfill and transformed them into the most imaginative festival gear. From an actual wedding outfit, a cwtchie for Bryn, stunning block-printed festi-merch, to personalised appliquéd t-shirts and parade costumes galore — you name it, we made it!

We even became an impromptu repair café — who knew that would be a festival essential? The medical team called us the “fourth emergency service” after we fixed a hole in someone’s pocket while they were still wearing the trousers! We patched jeans, repaired jackets, and altered more clothes than we could count.

This wasn’t just about fashion. It was about connection, sustainability, and empowerment. It reminded us how creativity can be a force for good. Thank you to every single one of you who stopped by, stitched something, shared a laugh, or just soaked in the vibes. You embraced our ethos & made it matter.
