What a great idea!!

Aiming for a November launch, we’re pleased to announce a new printed FREE monthly local community events newspaper, which will be available to collect from Hafan Yr Afon and Newtown College.

A newspaper to promote our Swap Shop and Repair events, letting people know about the support we already provide, whilst also promoting local community events and activities led by 3rd sector organisations, charities and local event organisers with a proven track record of supporting the community.

We’ve listened to the community and recognise that many people are not social media users, don’t necessarily read our local newspaper, or see event posters, so we wish to support everyone in finding out about the many events and activities that are available in Newtown every month.

Each cover will also have a unique image, details to be announced.

If the free newspaper proves very popular then we may consider commercial advertising in 12 months time, in order to keep the paper running.

Each issue will also include bilingual event notices, when available 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

We spent our Sunday session at Clothes Swap & Repair Café. We pressed pause on the rush of everyday life and settled into a slower rhythm, mending jumpers, patching well-loved jeans, and strengthening seams, all while sharing stories and laughter in our drop-in Visible Mending workshops. There’s a deep satisfaction in stitching slowly and mindfully — not just repairing clothes, but honouring that moment in time. Stepping away from screens and leaning into this simple, tactile work felt grounding, wholesome, and beautifully connective. Thanks to all the lovely ladies that joined us - I needed that!

What a day at our Upcycled Blanket Coat Workshop part of , we stitched, laughed, caffeinated, and basically proved that saving the planet can look ridiculously good on us.

Who knew rescuing blankets from the back of the cupboard could feel this empowering and this fun? Thanks girls! What better way to spend a Monday. 🪡🧵

Meet our newest recruits from today’s Circular Sewing School special! ✂️✨ Together we reclaimed fashion by upcycling old men’s shirts into adorable tie tops! 💚

They not only mastered the sewing machines but also brought their creativity to life in every stitch. Along the way, we rummaged through all our scrap fabrics and trims, we explored the stories behind our old clothes and discovered how transforming them can give them a whole new future—rather than sending them to landfill.
