At Ziggurat, we love finding ways to show that we are a business of people.
Supporting our team’s wellbeing goes beyond the workplace. Whether it’s making time for hobbies, family, or simply life outside of work, we want flexibility to mean real freedom. This year, we’ve taken that commitment a step further.
Parenthood can redefine a lot in a person's life, and in our opinion, the UK's statutory paternity leave doesn’t provide enough support for a family unit. Fathers at Ziggurat can now take up to 39 weeks of paid paternity leave, giving them more time to be present with their families and to rebalance childcare responsibilities at home.
We’ve made this change because it affects the parents in our business right now, and we’ll keep working to strengthen parental leave for all parents at Ziggurat.
Alongside extended leave, we like to mark the arrival of a new baby with something personal - a bundle of our favourite children’s books and a Jellycat soft toy. It’s a small gesture that reflects the culture that Talent Manager Joel Saunders describes:
“Ziggurat is a company that says they support families and work-life balance AND actually mean it.
When my son was born earlier this year, I was given generous paternity leave and at full pay, I might add. Both of these things meant that as a family, we had the breathing room to adapt to our new life, and enjoy our precious time together without the stress of immediately jumping back into work, worrying about finances, and using up all of my annual leave in one go.
What Ziggurat provides is more than just a company policy/perk around how they support families - it's a culture too. When I did get back to work, I was met with the full support and patience of the whole team whilst I caught myself up. They understood that I might not be able to stick to a typical schedule for a while or offer up as much of my time right away. Everyone banded together to properly cover my load while I was away so that I wasn't met with piles of tasks when I got back and if my toddler pops up in the background of my calls now and then, it's never treated like it's a problem. If anything, she ends up running the meeting.”
