Inspired by rewatching old episodes of Bake Off, I baked a ginger cake—it turned out really well! Meanwhile, Glenn made some solid progress on the boat engine, which was great to see.

With rain still falling in Totnes, we hopped on a train to Cornwall and found sunshine in Falmouth. We loved wandering around the town centre and treated ourselves to some freshly made gelato.

It was a rainy day in Totnes, and I worked all day. A quiet one, but sometimes those are needed.

Improv Class & Chimney Repairs | Daily Vlog | Tues 16th September (2025)
Glenn kept busy resealing the chimney flue, showing us the car he bought last week, and popping to the boat to do a few jobs. I started my improv acting course in the evening. I was nervous beforehand but needn’t have been—I had such a great time.

Exeter Red Coat Tour & Glenn’s First Bob the Bus Shift | Daily Vlog | Mon 15th September (2025)
I hopped on the train to Exeter and joined one of the famous Red Coat Tours—free daily walking tours led by volunteers who bring the city’s history to life. I chose the medieval tour and really enjoyed it. Meanwhile, Glenn had his first solo shift on Bob the Bus. With two sets of roadworks in Totnes, traffic came to a standstill, making for a stressful start, but he handled it brilliantly.

Charity Shop Induction & Sunday Dinner | Daily Vlog | Sun 14th September (2025)
I dropped Glenn at work in the morning before heading to my induction at the charity shop - I can’t wait to get started. At home, I cooked gammon for dinner and made chocolate mousse for dessert.

From my charity shop induction and Glenn’s very first solo shift on Bob the Bus, to exploring Exeter on a Red Coat Tour and escaping the rain with a sunny trip to Falmouth, it’s been full of variety. There was shepherd’s pie, chocolate mousse, ginger cake, and even a new improv acting course that gave me a real boost. A week of learning, exploring, and enjoying the small things.

Car Hunting, Seaton Tram & A Soaking! | Fri 12th September
We went to look at a car—we’ll need a second one when I go away with Mum so Glenn can still get to work. Afterwards, we drove to Seaton and hopped on the famous tram before enjoying a stroll around Colyton. It’s a lovely little town with a rebellious history and an unusual church tower. On the return trip we got completely soaked sitting on the top deck, but soon dried off with a wander around Seaton town centre.

Massage, Zero Waste Shop & Baking | Thurs 11th September
I started the day with a two-hour deep tissue massage from Kat at The Brixham Massage Room —it was exactly what my shoulder needed. We popped into the zero-waste shop in Totnes to top up on a few essentials, and I spent the afternoon happily baking.

Feeling Better & A Hidden Wallpaper Surprise | Daily Vlog | Wed 10th September (2025)
The new painkillers are working, and I feel so much better—I even managed a good night’s sleep. While I worked all day, Glenn tackled the big job of removing the large water heater from the wall. It was quite a task, but we’re glad it’s done. Behind it, we discovered some very old wallpaper—it felt like stepping back in time!

A Life Full of Meaning

A couple of years ago we found ourselves rattling around in a house too big for us. Our four children had all left home and started families of their own, so we decided to downsize. We put the house on the market and it sold quickly, Lisa decided that it would be a great idea if we got rid of ALL of our belongings.

She thought it would be a good idea to empty our life of stuff and put it back together with ‘stuff’ that was more meaningful - her plan was to create A Life Full of Meaning.

Our page follows our journey - from moving out - to buying a narrowboat. We share our experience of living on a narrowboat, plus our life in Northampton. Our children, grandchildren and extended family play a pivotal role in our lives, along with members of our extended family.
