A big screen will no longer be at RugbyFest at Abington Park on Friday after event organisers initially saying there would be one showing the first game of the tournament.

To mark the start of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, the FREE family event Abington Park will be carnival themed and will run from 2pm until 7pm.

RugbyFest, hosted by Northampton Saints and Loughborough Lightning in partnership with West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), will include rugby skills sessions, live music, a silent disco, art workshops, inflatable rugby games, family activities and fun challenges.

To clear up any confusion WNC told the Chron: "Both WNC and Northampton Saints had very much hoped to include a big screen as part of this partnership event, however due to a last-minute change in funding this was unfortunately not viable.
"For those keen to watch matches on a big screen, these will be available at our official Fan Zones which are also free to attend, providing the perfect place for fans to experience the tournament atmosphere together.
"RugbyFest still promises to be a fantastic, family-friendly day with plenty on offer for everyone to enjoy, and we’d really encourage our community to come along and be part of the Women’s Rugby World Cup celebrations."

Fanzones will be held on Sunday August 24, Saturday August 30, Sunday August 31 and Sunday September 7.
