It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Ian Hickling, co-founder of Revolution Radio, aged 85.

Ian’s passion for radio began back in the 1950s when he first tuned in to foreign stations on his parents’ bakelite radio. That spark turned into a lifetime of innovation, dedication and incredible support for the world of broadcasting.

As one half of the Transplan partnership, Ian helped power over 100 community radio stations across the UK with his unrivalled knowledge of transmission systems. His impact on Revolution Radio – and so many others – was immeasurable.

We are forever grateful for Ian’s vision, expertise and friendship. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire.

Rest in peace, Ian. You’ll always be part of the Revolution. ❤️📻
