Nearly time for this week’s show…let’s travel back to the Stone Age together…

On tonight's dino-mite edition of Simon Selects, in honour of the new Jurassic World film in cinemas, all the songs are of prehistoric nature, so expect dinosaurs and cavemen (yes, we know they didn't live together - but cartoons told us differently!) and anything to do primitive and stone age creatures. 🦖

There's some novelty songs, some pop and some prog rock but no space rock! 😄

Listen in from 7pm on 106.9FM, online at nliveradio.com, via smart speaker or download the NLive Radio app and have a roaring good time!

This week's show features not only ELO, but also Traveling Wilburys, The Move, lots of covers, and maybe a few surprises too... don't miss it!

As ELO are about to play their final tour (which Simon is very excited to have tickets for!), tonight's show is a celebration of the genius that is Jeff Lynne.

There's some classic ELO tracks, songs from Jeff's other bands, some covers, and also his work as a producer for other artists.

Listen and sing along from 7pm on 106.9FM, online at nliveradio.com, via smart speaker or download the NLive Radio app!

On next Monday's show (30th June) as Simon's off to see ELO on their final tour later in the week, the theme is 'Jeff Lynne Songbook'.

The show will delve in the back catalogue of Jeff's career and include songs from The Idle Race, The Move, Electric Light Orchestra, Traveling Wilburys, his solo albums and also his work as a producer for other artists too, along with some covers. Lots to try and fit in!

We are so very sad to hear of the death of Brian Wilson this evening - a true music legend.

As a result, instead of our planned 'summer sun' theme, we'll be paying tribute to the genius of Brian Wilson instead.

Let us know in the comments below your favourite Beach Boys or Brian Wilson song and any memories you have of those songs... 👇

This week’s show takes a look at the history of teenage tragedy songs. You’ll definitely know the songs but have you ever taken in the lyrics?

Tonight's edition of Simon Selects traces the history of the 'Splatter Platter' song or Teenage Tragedies as they are more commonly known.

These songs gained popularity in the 60's and 70's telling stories about lost romantic love or accidents involving cars, trains, bikes, guns or other circumstances. The playlist features some amazing songs, but have you ever listened closely to the lyrics?

Listen in, if you dare...from 7pm on 106.9FM, online at nliveradio.com, via smart speaker or download the NLive Radio app!

On Monday's show we're doing something slightly different...

We're going to trace the history of the 'Splatter Platter' song or Teenage Tragedies as they are more commonly known. Those songs about lost romantic love, or accidents involving cars, trains, bikes, guns or other circumstances.

There was a huge rise of them in the 60's and 70's, from Leader of the Pack through to Bat out of Hell, and lots more besides including some parodies.

Do you have a suggestion for the playlist, maybe you've heard some more recent examples? Let us know your suggestions in the comments below... 👇
