🇵🇪PERU🇵🇪🇵🇪LAKE TITICACA🇵🇪
Our day started early with a simple breakfast 🍜. As soon as we stepped outside, a rickshaw (a three-wheeled bike with a driver) was already waiting to take us to the harbor. There we stopped at a little shop to buy groceries for the families who would be hosting us overnight.
We boarded a small boat 🛥️ and headed off to our first stop—the famous floating islands. People actually live on these islands year-round! They are built entirely from the reeds that grow in the lake. The reeds are used to make the floating base, the houses, the kitchens, and even the boats 🛥️. Building a boat takes around six months, but it lasts only about two years before it needs to be rebuilt.
On the island we visited, just 10 people live permanently. Their lives are simple: they embroider textiles, catch fish, hunt ducks and other water animals, and then sail into town to trade their goods for the food or supplies they need. 🙂
Our second planned stop was Taquile Island 🙂, but the lake quickly reminded us who’s boss—the waves grew to several meters high, and suddenly it felt like we were out at sea 😅. Lake Titicaca is, after all, the world’s 18th largest lake, sitting at a breathtaking 3,412 meters above sea level. Because of the rough waters, we changed plans and instead headed to a small peninsula where a local community welcomed us for the night.
Upon arrival, we were split into groups of four and assigned to different host families. The head of the household guided us to our accommodation and made us feel at home. Soon after, we were invited into their kitchen for a warm homemade lunch.
In the afternoon, it was time to join in on daily chores 😁. We were given a pile of grains and had to separate the dark ones from the light ones—tedious but strangely satisfying. Later, as the sun began to set, we went out to gather the sheep 🐑🐑🐑🐑 from the fields and bring them back to the pen for the night. Because of the foxes 🦊 in the area, the sheep are taken to graze near the lake in the morning and always brought safely back in the evening—a daily ritual for the families here.
As dusk fell, our hosts dressed us in traditional local clothing, and we all gathered at the village school for an evening of dancing 💃🕺. Laughter, music, and the warmth of community filled the room.
Back at our host family’s house, we ended the day with a simple dinner. Once darkness fell, the village turned quiet—no TV, no internet 😁. By 9 p.m., I was already curled up in bed, falling asleep to the stillness of life on Lake Titicaca.

Diena prasidėjo anksti su pusryčiais🍜 Papusryčiavus lauke jau lauke Rickshow (triračiai dviračiai su vairuotoju). Nuvežė mus iki uosto parduotuvėlės kur nupirkome maisto produktų šeimoms, pas kurias nakvosim. Sėdom į laivelį 🛥️ ir pirma stotelė buvo plūduriuojančios salos kur nuolatos gyvena žmones. Plūduriuojančios salos yra pastatomos iš ežere augančių augalų. Iš jų pagaminamas pagrindas, namukai, virtuvėlės ir net laivai🛥️. Laivą pagaminti užtrunka apie 6 mėnesius, bet jis tarnauja tik apie 2 metus ir tada vėl reikia naują statyti. Saloje kurioje lankėmės nuolatos gyvena 10 žmonių. Jie siuvinėja, gaudo žuvis, medžioja antis ir kitus vandens gyvūnus. Tada plaukia į miestelį ir savo prekias iškeičia į jiem reikalingus maisto produktus ar daiktus🙂 Antra stotelė turėjo būti Taquile sala 🙂 bet ežeras pavirto jūra😁 bangos siekė kelis metrus. Tai 18 didžiausias ežeras pasaulyje įsikūręs 3412 metrų virš jūros lygio. Tai planas pasikeitė ir plaukėm į pusiasalį kur gyvena žmonių bendruomenė pas kuriuos ir praleisim naktį. Atvykus į salą buvom išskirstyti po 4 pas skirtingas šeimas. Šeimos galva palydėjo iki nakvynės vietos, įkurdino. Tada pakvietė į savo namus papietauti kartu. Po pietų laukė vietiniai darbai 😁 atnešė grūdų šūsnį ir reikėjo atrinkti tamsius nuo šviesių 😁 einan vakarop ėjome atrišti ir parsivesti avių🐑🐑🐑🐑 iš laukų į tvartelį. Nes aplinkui daug lapių🦊, todėl rytais nuveda prie ežero kur yra pievos ir vakare parsiveda🙂 ir taip kiekvieną dieną. Saulei leidžiantis buvom aprengti vietiniais rūbais ir visi susirinkom mokykloje kur vyko šokiai💃🕺 😁 Vakare vėl buvom pakviesti kartu su šeima pavakarieniauti. Po vakarienės jau tamsu buvo, namuke nei televizoriaus nei interneto😁 tai apie 9 vakaro jau buvau lovoj.
