Penultimate Saturday in the shop!

This is it gang, we're coming up to our last few days in the shop. We're open today and then Monday through to Saturday 10-5. We're running quite low on most stock with only one or two copies left of everything, our website is up to date with stock and discounts if you are further afield. Oh, and we do have copies of the new Pleasant Place, all about Compost...of course!

akin is evolving 💫

We are saying goodbye to our physical shop on Bridewell Alley, but in doing so we are saying hello to a future of new possibilities. As we approach 5 years of Akin being in existence you will know I have changed and pivoted the business throughout its history, and this time is no different. If you’re a golden oldie you will know akin started out purely as a magazine, publishing twice a year, we then dipped our toes into pop-up shops and after a short while jumped head first into opening a full time physical space but I'm ready for a new future. Our physical shop will be closing on Sat 22nd July 🚨

By closing our physical space it will allow us to re-connect with our print loving community. We’ve been there, we’ve done things and we want Akin to be a space for conversations to exist. Really, we’re not going anywhere, we have a bright future ahead of monthly pop-up shops, markets, online and in-person events alongside exciting future collaborations. Thank you to everyone who has supported and visited our shop on Bridewell Alley, now you’re going to have to keep a keen eye on our socials to see where we’re popping up next.

I have called my home for nearly two years now, first as a home for my design studio and secondly the home for our shop. It truly is incredible what magic can arise when women support women. Thank you to the Atwin team who have wholeheartedly supported our decisions and created a space for akin to exist. You're all golden 💫

We'll be at next Friday evening selling our mags, prints by and some sneaky new goodies. Then on Sunday you can find us in Lowestoft at peddling our wares. Fingers crossed the weather is good 🤞🏾

The mags I've been banging on about getting delivered safely landed with us this weekend. And yes, that does include the new Apartamento! Below is a full list of new mags on our shelves, mags with the 💫 emoji are already listed on our website, with all other mags being listed by the end of the week. I'm slowly working my way through getting them online. There's some really incredible mags in this re-stock and I'll talk about them in more detail over the next few days. As always the shop is open Tues 10:30-4 and we offer free local collection or nationwide delivery.

Yes you heard that right after a brief hiatus we finally have a new issue of wrap the much loved illustration and art publication in store. I've also popped out the all new courier, it's been completely redesigned for its 50th issue and features loads of lovely entrepreneurs, stories and stickers!!

I got a notification yesterday to say that our little shop has been nominated for the 'best bookshop' award hosted by . I know, I know we're not solely a 'book' shop but our mags are so beautiful they could easily pass as books. So, I won't say anything if you don't 😇. Anyway in order to help us to get through to the next round we now need as many nominations as possible before the 8th. 🚨 20% off tonnes of mags online 🚨

In a rare turn of events I've listed tonnes of mags on our website with 20% discount. If you treat yourself to a mag or two it will help me out no end with a) space in the shop for new arrivals and b) pay some pretty hefty bills that have landed on our doorstep all at once. new titles joined us this week 🚨

I've been trying to stock Popeye and Casa Brutus for a while now and this week was the week they joined our shelves. If you know your stuff you know they're the creme de la creme of mags so it's lovely to bring them to Norwich for the first time. They're up on our website or you can pick them up in our shop on Bridewell Alley. Treat yourself, you deserve it! Oh and new Dazed is in store too.

We have some lovely smaller publications on our middle table in an array of themes from q***r poetry to travel to literature to paper bags, yes a mag about paper bags. Spring is always such a great time for indie publishing and our shelves are looking great for it. If you're on the hunt for adventure/ travel publications we have new issues such as Suitcase, Sidetracked and Lodestars Anthology. If you're on the lookout for some garden inspo we have new issues of Bloom, Pleasant Place & Rakesprogress. If you're not sure what's what head to our website where we have all mags listed with their most recent issue information so you can have a read and see if it takes your fancy.
