There are over 1,500 different denominations in America alone! If there is only one God, why so many options?
This presentation traces the history of the church from the first to the twenty-first century. It shows how it began as one but then split into thousands of different denominations. Through the mysterious symbols of the four horsemen, we will discover how the devil sought to divide God’s people. However, God is bringing His people together in the unity of Spirit and truth!

Offerings for Jesus.
Besides tithing, there are offerings that come from the 90 percent that remains in our possession after our tithe is returned to God. This is where generosity begins. Different types of offerings were given by God’s people, such as sin offerings, given in response to God’s grace, or thank offerings, given to recognize God’s protection, and blessings of health, prosperity, and sustaining power. There also were offerings for the poor and offerings to build and maintain the house of worship.

When we consider the magnitude of God’s gifts to us, we then begin to see our giving as more than just paving the parking lot or buying choir robes. We bring our gifts in response to what God has done for us, especially in the sacrifice of Jesus. “We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19, NKJV). The church, then, whether it be local, conference, or worldwide, uses our gifts to advance the cause of God.

This week we will review what the Bible has to say about offerings as part of our management of God’s business on the earth.

Scripture gives us this hope: “But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13, NASB).

For some, however, the promise of “a new heaven and a new earth” (Revelation 21:1) seems like a fantasy, stories told by those in power who used the hope of an afterlife to help keep the masses in line. The idea being: Though you have it hard at present, one day you will have your reward in heaven, or the like.

And though some people have used the future hope presented in the Bible that way, their abuse doesn’t change the truth of the promises that we have regarding the new heavens and the new earth.

In the last days, scoffers will ridicule our blessed hope (2 Peter 3:3–7). But their scoffing, just as predicted, could be seen as more evidence that what the Bible says is true, for they are scoffing as the Bible predicted they would.

During this week we will reflect on the glorious promise of a new heaven and a new earth, including the heavenly temple, the presence of God, the end of death and tears—and, finally, the ultimate triumph of God’s love.

Prayers of Hope - Psalm 34 (10th September 2022)
Guests Diane Barnett and Pauline Thompson
Psalm 34 is a Psalm of David, it was composed when he changed his behaviour in the presence of Abimelech who sent him away without harming him. The theme of this Psalm is God's tender care for those who are afflicted. Here Psalmist used the Hebrew alphabet accept for one letter, to express his gratitude and praise to God.
Please Join us on Prayers of Hope as we Praise the Lord at all times and refuse to rely on our feelings but instead trust in the assurance that He gives us in His Holy words. For God is good to us morning , noon and night, and that cannot be denied.

It's Biblical - Waiting in the Crucible (Qtr 3 - Week 11: 10 September)

Key Text: “But the fruit of the Spirit is . . . longsuffering” (Galatians 5:22, NKJV)

Hope and meekness, as essential tools for overcoming crucibles, are both defined by waiting. However, the concept of biblical waiting is not only about waiting but also waiting with patience. This patience is not a political stratagem but is part of the fruit of the Spirit. God’s people wait patiently in the crucible, because God Himself is patient. God is patient because He is loving in character and because He also chooses the best moment to intervene. But that best moment is calculated by God to offer as much time as possible for the salvation of as many people as possible. Again, waiting is possible only when we trust the One for whom we are waiting.

Lesson Themes: This week’s lesson highlights two major themes.
1. We understand that patient waiting is part of the fruit of the Spirit and is crucial in our overcoming crucibles.
2. Waiting patiently becomes possible when we know and trust the person we are waiting for.

Thought Question: Why do we sometimes have to wait so long for things? What lessons can we learn about patience while in the crucible?

It’s Biblical – Meekess in the Crucicle (3rd September 2022)
with Lorraine McDonald, Beverly Brown and guest Dr Conrad Vine.

We don’t hear the word meek used much, except maybe when reading about Moses or studying the Beatitudes. It’s not hard to figure out why, either. Meekness is defined as “enduring injury with patience and without resentment.” No wonder we don’t hear much about it; it’s hardly a trait well respected in cultures today. Sometimes the Bible translates this word as “humble.” Again, humility
isn’t a character trait seen as desirable by most cultures either.

But meekness, enduring injury with patience and without resentment, is one of the most powerful characteristics of Jesus and His followers. And yet, it’s not an end in itself: meekness of spirit can be a powerful weapon in the hands of those who are in the midst of pain and suffering. Indeed, the crucible is a great place to learn meekness of heart, for through our own meekness and broken places we can be powerful witnesses for God.

Psalms 69 is a mournful cry from king David who is overwhelmed with grief and torment. Because he is a victim of hostility from his enemies due to his faith in God. Here he describes his personal suffering but there are sections in this Psalm that some New Testament writers have applied to the suffering of our LORD Jesus Christ, the one who is the chief among ten thousand and altogether lovely.

We truly serve a God who can empathise with us when we are innocently victimised and persecuted. While he alone carried the burden of all our sins on His shoulders He does not leave us to carry our burdens alone. He invites us to cast them upon Him because He loves and cares for us.

So please join us on Prayers of Hope as we are reminded that we are more dearly loved by our Saviour when we encounter suffering for His cause.

A Life of Praise

It’s always easy to shout with joy to the Lord when we feel joy. It’s not so easy, however, when things are bad, when we are in the worst situations imaginable, when the crucible heats up. Yet, it’s precisely then that we need—perhaps more than ever—to praise God, for praise is a means of helping us sustain faith.

Indeed, praise can transform even our darkest circumstances, maybe not in the sense of changing the facts around us, but in the sense that it can change us, and those around us, in a way that helps us face challenges.

Praise is faith in action. It may not always be natural to us, but when we practice praise so that it becomes a natural part of our lives, it has the power both to convert and to conquer.

The Week at a Glance: What is praise? How could praise be such a powerful spiritual weapon in difficult circumstances? How can praise transform us and the situation around us?
