3 days later and we’ve just about recovered enough to make the awaited SRA debrief post!

First of all, a huge congratulations goes to and from .archives.urn for winning bronze in the Best Multiplatform Initiative category!! One flipped chair (thanks to our deputy station manager) and a lot of screaming later had sources telling us that URN was indeed the loudest student radio station of the night!!

Another massive congrats has to go to our previous station manager .howell for being shortlisted in the Best Interview category. To be nominated for an SRA for four consecutive years in a row is an incredible achievement and is thoroughly deserved.

We also have to thank the for putting on an amazing event, as well as send a huge shoutout to for taking the time to come and chat to us and for wearing our URN logo for the rest of the night!! (courtesy of )

Some more shoutouts go out to:

- All the bar staff behind the free bar, specifically the one that served 6 pints at once.
- The cameraman who accidentally panned to and I ( ), thinking we’d just won an SRA, when infact we were still screaming over the Analog Archives award.
- ‘s ‘networking’ skills.
- The photographer who took so many photos with us in the background, contributing to plenty of new stickers to be used in our society groupchat.
- again for following us back on Instagram!
- The random student from another station who has somehow posed in the background of half our photos (please tell us who you are)
- Andy, our absolutely iconic coach driver, who got us all home safe at 4am

On Monday, with the support of , we had the pleasure in meeting former Nottingham Student, Matthew Bannister!

After graduating from UoN in 1978, Bannister started out his broadcasting career at BBC Radio Nottingham. He later went on to work at Radio 1 before becoming Director of Radio, Chef Executive of Production and finally Director of Marketing and Communications at the BBC.

In recent years, Bannister has presented shows on Radio 5Live, the BBC World Service and currently Radio 4, as well as launching his award-winning Podcast Folk on Foot.

Matt spoke to us about pursuing a career in radio as well as giving us the best tips to help us launch a podcast, ending the session with a tour of our brand-new studio!

A huge thank you goes to Matthew for taking the time out of his schedule to come and talk to us, it was a pleasure to listen to all his insight!

Make sure to tune into the Folk on Foot Podcast, a show that combines Folk music and the outdoors, available on all major streaming services, Patreon and at folkonfoot.com

Women’s FA Cup Broadcast!

This Sunday, we were proud to be given the opportunity to host live radio coverage of the first round proper match between and at the Women’s FA Cup!

Despite the final 2-1 score which sadly knocked UoN out of the competition, the Green and Gold put out a valiant effort as the only student team left in the competition, representing University sport on an outstanding level!

From setting up tech, to researching, to commentary and social media, thank you to everyone that helped make this broadcast an absolute success! 💜⚽️

Last week, on World Mental Health Day, we were proud to launch the first episode of The Student Seat, led by Donna from , focusing on creating meaningful conversations surrounding student issues, including mental health.

Listen in on alternate Friday nights between 9 and 11pm!

No matter what day it is, on behalf of URN, we want to create a positive and open environment that is open about discussing mental health. Please remember to take care of yourself and look out for others, especially as we head closer to Wobble Week.

If you need any advice, questions or simply someone to talk to, please do reach out to our incredible Head of Welfare Griffin ( ). He has a lot of wholesome welfare events planned, so keep an eye out for those coming soon :)

Sending lots of love 💜
