Wedding law reform could completely change WHERE you’re allowed to get married.
And for couples who want something a little less traditional, this could be seriously exciting. 👀
The proposed reforms to wedding law in England and Wales could move the focus away from licensed wedding venues and towards the person officiating the marriage.
In simple terms, that could give couples MUCH more freedom over where they legally say “I do”.

For us, this is a big one.
We’ve always believed your wedding should feel like your wedding, not a carbon copy of everybody else’s. More choice, more personality and fewer outdated restrictions sounds pretty good to us.

⚠️ Important bit. These are proposed reforms and are not law yet.

Wedding dress shopping? Don’t get dazzled by lace, sparkle and TikTok trends before you’ve thought about the shape.

The silhouette does most of the work. The details are the fancy garnish.

And here’s the real test: can you walk, sit, hug, eat, breathe and dance in it?

Because your dress needs to survive more than the aisle. It needs to survive auntie cuddles, prosecco, photos, dinner and possibly Strip the Willow.

Choose the dress that feels like you. Not the one the internet bullied you into.

After the scorching weather we had in May, we thought it was the perfect time to talk about summer wedding survival tips — because sunshine is lovely, but nobody wants their wedding remembered as ‘that day everyone slowly turned into a roast tattie’.

So this week, we’re musing about the wee things that make a massive difference when the temperature rises.

Things like having a proper charging station — not just for phones, but for rechargeable fans too. And don’t just hide it in a corner and hope people magically find it. Make sure your guests actually know it’s there, that there are plenty of different connections, and that it’s easy to use throughout the day.

We’ll also be chatting about things like ice stations, water points, shaded areas, fans, battery packs, timing your photos, and all those little practical details that keep your guests comfortable, happy and still up for a dance later.

Because a summer wedding can be absolutely gorgeous — golden light, outdoor drinks, relaxed vibes — but only if people aren’t overheating, dehydrated or panicking because their phone battery has died before the ceilidh even starts.

So grab a cold drink, stick a fan in your bouquet if you need to, and let’s get into our best summer wedding tips.

What should couples actually spend their wedding budget on? 👀💍

This week on Monday Musings of the Wedding World, we’re chatting about guest experience vs wedding budget.

Because weddings are not cheap, and it’s easy to get pulled into spending money on every extra, upgrade and tiny detail.

But what do guests really remember?

The atmosphere.
The welcome.
The food.
The music.
The flow of the day.
The moments where they relaxed, laughed, danced and felt properly part of it.

A brilliant wedding is not about cramming in more things.

It’s about creating moments that feel unforgettable.

And aye… that’s exactly where a ceilidh earns its keep. 😉
