Notisounds
the familiar rain has returned to his hometown pavements, North Of The Island returns with the perfect remedy, ready to extend the summer indefinitely. The follow up to March’s Earth Positive EP, “Tonic” is a double-drop designed for both the dancefloor and the daydream, Neil Diablo’s Balearic alter ego pouring another round of liquid light. In its original form, “Tonic” shimmers with digital birdsong, cicadas and swelter, its unhurried woodblocks and chiming keys rolling beneath an undulating bassline. Dreamy guitar courtesy of Thought Leadership channels Steve Hiett at his most sky-kissed, while synth vox drift through the haze, stripping back to a subtle yet sensual dancefloor pulse. This is music for that liminal moment just after sunset, when the heat still clings to the air but the mood tips into something deeper, more serious and more seductive. Never one to neglect the lilo crowd, NOTI also supplies an ambient version: the pulse removed, but the shimmer preserved. Here the birdsong, guitar and atmosphere breathe freely, perfect for closed-eye contemplation, poolside epiphanies or bathtub escapism. A toast to transition, “Tonic” captures the moment between day and night, motion and stillness, glow and afterglow.

Acclaimed Independent Mastering & Mixing

Masters better than your LANDR or other automated master - or no charge. Simple.

Shown to outperform LANDR in a controlled test* - it’s easy if you know what you’re doing. But it regularly beats less experienced mastering engineers. So if you just want to sound reasonably the same as everyone else in your genre...and you've got no budget, go for it.

LANDR is pretty smart software, but it essentially just 'learns' a sort of average sound for your genre. It's easy to improve on that with proper experience, and pick out what makes your work stand out from the crowd - as well as get your genre sound bang on. It may be the reason there are very few claims for masters of big tracks forthcoming from automated mastering. It’s kinda ‘average’ and it always will be till we surpass big data sets and learn how to code AI for creativity and inspiration and vibe and busting rules and .... basically, don’t hold your breath.

Get proven masters with high-end commercial mix advice where necessary for best results on Spotify, YouTube, download, radio, broadcast, vinyl, clubs systems etc. Class results from decades of commercial experience.
