Immigration journey, part 4.

We went out to eat, and it was such a happy moment. I remember the laughter, the joy, and the way he kept looking at me as if he couldn’t believe I was really there. After dinner, he even took me to a nightclub. We danced and danced that night, like two people who had known each other forever—it was so much fun.

At the end of the night, he took me back to his place, and that was really where our love journey began. Everything felt so new and exciting. He wanted me to move in with him right away, but I said no. I wanted to take things slow. I told myself I hadn’t come to the UK just to immediately attach myself to a man. I needed to show some decency, take time to settle, and prove that I could stand on my own.

So after that night, I went back to my friend’s brother’s house, where I was staying. He was such a kind man, working night shifts while I spent the days exploring—sometimes shopping, sometimes just sightseeing and discovering the UK for the first time. Other times, I would visit my boyfriend, and we would talk, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. Then at night, when my friend’s brother had gone to work, I would return home to sleep.
