Fire crews tackle fire at two garages as plumes of smoke billow over Lancashire district

At 18:35, fire engines from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire involving two domestic garages at a property on Hexham Avenue, - .

In a statement Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have said “Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, two hose reels and one jet to tackle the fire. Crews worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading further and brought the incident under control.

“The fire affected two garages. Firefighters remained at the scene carrying out damping down operations and checking for hotspots. The fire is believed to have been accidental and the cause is under investigation.”

RAF Training jet crashes

An jet has crashed on after taking off from RAF Valley, sending a huge plume of thick smoke into the air.

The Emergency services rushed to the scene after both crew members ejected from the aircraft shortly before impact.

Fortunately, the two pilots escaped with minor injuries and there are no reports of any injuries on the ground.

UPDATE: Police investigating an incident in the Sandylands area of Kendal on Monday (21 Sept) have made two arrests overnight.

Police were called on Monday after a man sustained non-life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed. This happened in the Sandylands area on Monday at about 4.50pm to 4.55pm

The victim was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

Overnight, Cumbria Police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

In addition, officers arrested a 17-year-old. She was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both remain in police custody this morning (23 Sept).

Officers are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone with relevant dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward.

Update: Man dies after bicycle and lorry collide

A man has died following a Road Traffic Collision involving a lorry and a bicycle in , yesterday afternoon (22nd).

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of New Road and the A38 at 3.34pm and sent an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival, a man, the cyclist, was found. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

Mass stabbing in Liverpool: Men charged

The police have issued an update after a serious incident in Liverpool over the weekend.

Merseyside Police have said detectives investigating the stabbing of a group of males in city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning (20 September) have charged three men.

Three men were stabbed outside Liverpool’s G-Bar in the early hours with police saying they were called to Tithebarn Street at about 6.35am on Sunday. Officers said an altercation broke out near the LGBT+ venue on Eberle Street. A suspected weapon was seized for forensics.

In a statement they have said:

At around 6.35am, officers were called to Tithebarn Street after three men were found injured. All three victims were taken to hospital for assessment and one remains in hospital in a stable condition. It is believed the incident took place outside the G-Bar on Eberle Street following an altercation between two groups inside. Three men were arrested yesterday.

- Patrick Morgan, 31, of Canterbury Way, Liverpool has been charged with two counts of Section 18 wounding with intent; Violent Disorder; and Possession of a bladed article.
- Jonny Gee, 18, of Halkyn Drive, Everton has been charged with two counts of Section 18 wounding with intent; Violent Disorder; and Possession of a bladed article.
- Stephen Gee, 22, of Halkyn Drive, Everton has been charged with one count of Section 18 wounding with intent; Violent Disorder; and Possession of Class B controlled drugs.

All three will appear at Wirral Magistrates Court this morning, Wednesday 23 September.

Forty firefighters called to worshop fire

Eight fire engines and around 40 firefighters are responding to a fire at a car workshop on Waterloo Road in .

The London Fire Brigade have said “The fire destroyed one car and affected part of the ground floor of the unit. There are currently no reports of any injuries.

“Control Officers took the first of three calls at 0017 and have mobilised crews from Willesden, West Hampstead, Finchley and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 0122.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation”

Four die after house fire

The emergency services attended a house fire in on Tuesday, 22nd September and can sadly confirm that four people have tragically lost their lives in the fire.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) Fire Control received a 999 call at 3.38am and crews were immediately alerted, arriving on scene at 3.45am. At the height of the incident, six fire engines were in attendance. On arrival at Stone Square, firefighters found a semi-detached house well alight.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and began searching the property and fighting the fire.

A casualty outside the house on arrival of fire crews was taken into the care of North West Ambulance Service and taken to hospital suffering from burns.

During the course of their search, firefighters discovered four casualties in an upstairs bedroom, showing no signs of life. Two members of North West Ambulance’s Hazardous Area Response Team were committed into the incident and tragically confirmed that all four had lost their lives.

MFRS and Merseyside Police are now undertaking a joint investigation to establish the cause of the fire.

MFRS Area Manager Kevin Longshaw said: “This is a devastating incident, and our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those who have lost their lives and been injured. We will work closely with relevant colleagues to ascertain the cause of the fire, but in the immediate term, we again extend our sincere condolences to those affected by this tragic incident.”
