I was fortunate enough to be invited to a small event at a friends garage lately, which saw a collection of various modified hondas and japanese cars of varying ages and spec levels.
-
, in preparation for their japfest stand, had a get together of some friends at their place, to hang out, chat anything honda, japanese, and modified, which saw the likes of everything from your family wagon odyssey's, to your rare anniversary edition Civics, to our very own Integra Type R
-
The collection of cars was nothing short of spectacular, all with open bonnets showcasing various engine swaps from k24's, k20 turbos, our own OEM cleaned up b18c's and turbo b18's, from showcars, to racecars and even a hayabusa powered MNR
-
Enjoy some photos of the event, and let us know in the comments your favorite car, due to instagrams limit on photos, more photos to come!
-
Thanks to for the invitation, and they will be holding more events similar, with food, music, and cars in the coming summer months!

There is something poetically beautiful about the ruggedness and straight edged lines of vehicles designed for war, designed purely for purpose, nothing unnecessary, and even a danger to the users own health

Somewhere deep down, the vw kid that was once me, circa 2004, just starting to understand how cool cars can be, in the early stages of life, is now seeing this project near completion, and is somewhere between giddy with excitement, and sad that the boys time working on it together is coming to an end...

's ongoing endeavor to take a once grandpa owned golf, to a city street killer, is nearing completion, I'd thought I'd share some photos from the middle road of the build.

Featuring the hard work by & housed and lead by , with as emotional & moral support, kept a level head through the ups and downs of the ongoing project.

It has really opened my eyes to how these sometimes tedious metal boxes on 4 wheels can bring people together, bring laughter, smiles and also tears to regular people who's escape from the real world is directly through the feeling that these vehicles give to us all. There has been so many shared stories, shared techniques, and helping hands go into this build.

Its been a real pleasure to watch from the sidelines as these guys have put so much time, and effort (not without some bloodied knuckles) into making this car not only run, but look really spectacular in the process, I'll treasure my little time watching and sharing the good times, well into the dark nights in the cold, into the sunsets of the summer nights now we're nearing completion, with only minor adjustments left.

Thank you to the guys , , and for allowing me to watch and be apart of this, it really was alot of fun, and thanks for being such gracious hosts.

I think more photos will have to follow, for a finished build, with a feature on the work and , both respectively. Looking forward to that.

Im sure you'll see this car about at various shows in the UK, keep an eye out.

Ive known this golf for a good few years now,
originally when i bought it in 2017 age 18, i spent many nights on the driveway listening to music, as i couldnt even drive the car yet, then the journey of learning to drive, passing my test, and going for the first solo ride in it, my first taste into automotive freedom, and dipping my toes into modifying cars, albeit the classic numberplate, grille, and stickers "mods"

When i bought the car it was owned by a guy down in london, whos dad owned the car from new, he unfortunately passed away and the car was kept under his son and his mechanic experience, so the car was meticulously maintained, (nothing could stop the harsh uk winter salt from attacking the rear arches however)

The car: 1.6 Ryder model, the rarer of the base models, and had a blast driving it around for almost 2 years, then a change of circumstances, left the car sitting on my driveway for a while, where the paint faded, moss grew, and the winter took its toll,
When i bought my Mk1 jetta, the car was neglected, and needed saving, so in stepped my brother, whos started to bring it back to life,

First came a big detail, the paint was brought back up, trims treated, new wheels/tyres, battery, the works,
Then came the real mods, chrome splits, coils (eventually now onto air ride) steering wheels, exhausts, As it sits in these photos,

Its been bittersweet to watch, as i couldnt afford to do all these mods, which i wanted to personally, but at last they are done, seeing the car, almost as i visioned it when i bought it is really cool.

But now, my brother has set his sights on a higher level of mods, and quality, with the help of some really cool guys , the car is looking really special, and alot of work has gone into the engine build,
And i for one cant wait to see it up and running, and it will have to see me on the blacktop @ santapod...

When it comes to 80s Japanese sports/hatches, Not one other car oozes cool like this EF9 SIR

The keyword of the day being SIR, with its array of motorsports inspired components, ice cold white paint, with the signature red hints, this model really stated the long line of enthusiasts civics, and what a run of cars it started.

Imported to the UK in 2018 has seen a no expense spared refresh, all the original running gear, subframes, arms, linkages all stripped back and painted like new, The original body has never been welded, the OG bronze glass gives it a look so retrospective of Japan.

The car originally shipped with a b16, however now its retrofitted with a b18c6 supplemented with a hard to find Jackson racing supercharger, aem fuel rail/regulator, 4.2 snout pulley, skunk2 alpha TB, 550cc injectors, hondata s300v4, ek9 shafts all around and mocal oil cooler to keep the temps in line.

Keeping the SIR glued to the road are a set of SSR Type c's wrapped in some sticky nankang ns2r, which house the uprated spoon twinblock calipers which compliment the wheels with an extra pinch of spoon jdm goodness.

The front of the car is adorned with a J's racing spoiler, rarity honda access fog lamps, a charge speed rear spoiler, access wind visors & sunroof visor, and a very kanjo inspired headlight delete for that cold air intake just hiding behind.

The interior has been updated slightly with some Recaro's found in an evo 3, a momo steering wheel and drawing your eyes to the center is a k tuned cnc shifter.

Overall this originally was released as a way of putting state of the art motorsport technology into the hands of the common man, this spirit of going fast, yet remaining obtainable by the aspiring motor/street racers in Japan really gives this car a relatable and easy to love spirit.

I have seen and photo'd this consul previously, but i managed to forget the sheer quality of the work done.

The paint work is honestly some of the best ive ever seen, Coupled with a marvelous interior, the whitewall tyres tucked into the rear body.

What a sight to see
