We did have a fabulous St Andrew’s Day in Oban thanks to the Oban Winter Festival! They know how to put on an event 👍🏻 I’m always amazed at how such a small group of volunteers can pull together a packed diary for the town and visitors to Oban to enjoy 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Delighted to see that William from Tigh an Truish won the People’s Choice in the Haggis Awards 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Many thanks to our illustrious judges Mark Grant, formerly of Grants of Taynuilt, and a multiple Golden Haggis winner from previous years, and Michael Leathley, award winning Head Chef of the Pierhouse Hotel & Resturant in Port Appin.

The winner of the Golden Haggis, awarded by the judges was WT Forsyths of Forsyth. (Number 11), 2nd Stuart Colllins (number 3) and the People's Choice Champion, voted for by the public William from Rocks Fine Foods at Clachan Seil (Number 13), 2nd place Hugh Black & Sons (number 5). Massive congratulations to all our winners, runners up and a immense thanks you to all our 14 haggis makers who took part, our judges, volunteers, haggis cookers & servers, taster and voters, craft Market makers, and of course the Oban Distillery team for hosting and their hospitality.

It’s today - Haggis Festival at the Oban Distillery, starts at 12!

Sunday 30th November 2025 - it's Haggis Festival time!! Start time 12pm at the Oban Distillery - the will be piping on the judges, competitors and the voting general public - that's YOU! 😁 You get to taste ALL the competitors and vote for your favourite in the People's Choice Award! £5 entry pp, all proceeds to be the Oban High School Pipe Band. There will also be free whisky tastings from the Oban Distillery team!

A lovely email to wake up to this morning 🙂
"Hello, I hope I am reaching the right person.
This summer I travelled to Oban and had by far the best oysters I have ever had. Is it possible to get these delivered to the USA? specifically to Iowa?"
However, we don't do mail order deliveries and I don't think they'd be at their best by the time they reach Iowa 😞
If you do want oysters for Christmas I believe Loch Fyne Oysters, Cape Wrath Oysters and Shetland Oyster Company do send out via mail order. It'd be worth asking any of them, but perhaps not to Iowa!

Last Oban Winter Festival weekend of shucking oysters at Oban Distillery - food, Christmas cocktails and crafts found there today.
And tomorrow the Argyll Haggis & Whisky Festival - perfect timing for St Andrew’s Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 . Finishing off the day with a Strip the Willow - its going to be fun!!

Kyle put his heart and soul into creating our sculpture for Oban Winter Festival’s Winter Woods. The theme for the Festival this year is ‘Up, Up and Away’ and when I saw the size of the Spaceship I wished it could’ve flown to Glencruitten Woods. No way was it going to squidge into the Berlingo!!
Luckily, a friend and his trailer came to the rescue. Thank you Tom 🙏
Kyle made the Spaceship from old oyster bags, tubing and wire - all found on the farm - everything Reused and Repurposed. And the electricians did a fantastic job lighting it up 👍🏻adding to the atmosphere 🛸👽🪐
