Yesterday I joined the free Growth Leaders taster event at Exeter Science Park.

It was my third networking/course event as founder of design pitch, and the theme was simple but powerful: clarity, control, and confidence.

What I took away:

→ Systems are not a luxury, they are survival — and they give you freedom.
→ No matter your business size, the fundamentals are the same.
→ Being in the room and making friends amongst peers is how you survive and thrive.

I set off from Exeter at 6:30 on a crisp September morning with Future Islands playing — the Far Field album, fitting as I was heading to a field next to the woods for my second networking event.

The setting at Tawnamoor Rural Retreat was beautiful, the talks inspiring, and the people welcoming. I went in as a guest, left with new ideas, and a reminder that being in the room is not just a nice-to-have. It is vital if you want to survive and thrive as a business owner.
