🎶 One of the biggest metropolitan music festivals in the UK is back in Manchester this weekend with two days of good vibes and hopefully good weather.

Parklife is returning to Heaton Park this weekend and Bury is about to be jam packed with over 80,000 people visiting Manchester specifically for the event. 😯

It's set to be a busy weekend for Manchester with a host of big concerts from the likes of Take That and Lily Allen taking place elsewhere, as well as the latest matches as part of the Netball Super League and the Women's T20 Cricket World Cup. This means that there may be longer waits for public transport across the two days.

Those who are attending will be able to make use of the bus and tram networks with a Parklife Travel Pass, which will also include the use of the dedicated shuttle bus service which will drop ticketholders off at the entry gates at Heaton Park.

We can't wait! 🙌

🔴 James Frith, Labour MP for Bury North, has hailed Andy Burnham as a 'huge talent' whose victory in Makerfield 'makes Labour stronger nationally'.

He said: "A stunning result. Andy is a huge talent and I’m proud to call him both a friend and a colleague. We’ve worked so closely before now on Bury Hospice, Bury FC and Special Educational Needs. He’s a champion of the people.

"His victory locally makes Labour stronger nationally and I’m absolutely delighted for him and for us. Most of all, though, I’m delighted for the people of Makerfield, here in Greater Manchester, who have put their trust in him."

🔴 Labour have thwarted Reform UK's chances of becoming main opposition in Bury Moorside election.

The Party emerged victorious in the Moorside ward, with candidate Sandra Walmsley receiving 1,308 votes and holding onto her seat. Reform’s Alan Derby came in less than 300 votes behind with 1,030.

There is still work to be done, however, Coun Walmsley said. Her priorities for the coming ‘months and years’ will include highways, fly tipping, resurfacing roads and supporting families and children.

The outcome will also be a disappointment for Reform UK which was hoping to cement its position as Bury council’s main opposition group. The party is tied with Radcliffe First for that role, with each group having six councillors.

Council leader, Labour’s Eamonn O’Brien said the local party has proven it can beat off Reform in Bury. He said: “[Our focus] was to really say this was about Moorside, the people of Moorside, the communities, the streets. All of those local issues [...]

“It carries on our great results in May. We have shown we can beat Reform here in Bury by focusing in on the things that matter to local residents.”

He added: “We want to make sure people have good housing, good town centres, good high streets. We want to make sure we’re cracking down on dodgy shops and building council housing again.”
