The weather might be cooling down as we head into autumn, but this time of year can be perfect to enjoy a walk 🚶‍➡️

However, accessibility can be an issue for many people wanting to head outdoors and some walks are easier than others to navigate.

But there's one here in Greater Manchester, on the border with Yorkshire, that's been named the 'best accessible walk in the UK'.

The Dovestone Reservoir Circular, near Dobcross, Oldham, tops both the region and the entire UK in a nationwide search for the 'walks that open up the outdoors to everyone'.

Research was carried out by leading care home provider Lovett Care, which ranked 289 walking routes on the things that decide whether a walk is genuinely doable for someone with limited mobility.

This includes how far it goes and how much climbing it involves, how long it takes, whether it follows an easy loop back to the start, how highly walkers rate it, how scenic it is, the variety of features along the way, and whether dogs are welcome.
