Radio Heartbeat The free radio hospital service broadcasting to the patients of Southport and Ormskirk NHS trust

A voluntary hospital radio service founded in 1979 (registered charity 511114) as 'Radio Ormskirk General' to broadcast music requests to patients in Ormskirk General Hospital, the station has grown and changed a lot since then. We have changed studios 3 times and are currently in a studio in the hospital itself. In 1999 we started our 24 hour service and in 2015 we started broadcasting to patient

s in Southport Hospital as well. In August 2015 we official changed our name to Radio Heartbeat, to avoid excluding Southport based listeners and started using the new name on air from November 2015.
