"The TikTok user privacy issue inevitably involves taking a deeper look into national security protection. Banning TikTok would prevent millions of US citizens from using the social platform to connect and express themselves online with other users. However, the TikTok’s privacy policy does not appear to reflect the level of comprehensiveness and transparency concerning its use and transfer of personal data. Since the app’s privacy policy remains unclear to its users, suspending at least temporary access to the app may be a necessary step to counter user privacy concerns until TikTok is able to provide a more consistent, unambiguous and trustworthy privacy policy to its users and the government."

'Any defamatory statements whether written or verbal that threaten to harm another’s reputational status are rejected forms of online activity by the government and the courts. As a result, cyber laws are enacted as legal safeguards to protect individuals, groups, the public and governments from suffering any reputational harm. This raises an international question for the courts concerning the extent to which online freedom of expression can be exercised without facing criminal prosecution. In the context of international law, this article examines the government’s use of defamation laws that limit freedom of expression and citizens’ access to information.'
