Greetings old friends!
We've been blissfully dormant for a good while now but one recent issue has us turning in our grave. As some of you may have heard, our beloved old venue, The Cellar [Oxford] is under threat from closure and being turned into yet another retail space. This would be utterly devastating for Oxford's music scene, whose now-glowing reputation is almost entirely indebted to this glorious little subterranean bunker.
Please do your bit to protest its closure by signing this planning application: http://public.oxford.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=OSB86UMFLD900.
In order to do this, you need to write a (sensible) comment, and refer to Policy TA.7 of the Tourism and the Arts section of the 2001 Oxford Local Plan. This policy states: "POLICY TA.7 - ARTS FACILITIES. Planning permission will only be granted for the loss of existing public art venues, cultural and art attractions if overriding reasons are demonstrated or alternative provision is made in the area."
Spread the word, and look after ya bad selves.
Love,
The Subverse Team
