Our Manifesto. To support selected artists via social media and to offer a platform for musicians to gain a wider audience, free of charge. A volunteer-led organisation, we aim to also offer occasional show-case nights and on-line releases. Our team includes a film studio, animator, photographer and recording studio. Some of these services are free, whilst others are available at a competitive rat

e that the artist and the relevant AWBW representative deem appropriate. We hope to offer musicians another avenue to help them expose their craft to a wider audience, all we ask for in return is that people continue to spread the word.

This year's chance to see 16 of the best local artists.

Sunday 14 December at The Bullingdon

Pinch, punch, first of the month. Getting towards the end of the year but still plenty to see before live music goes on a Celebrations-induced semi-hibernation.

How about this escape from pre-Christmas consumerist lunacy - 16 of the best local artists across both rooms at The Bullingdon over a full day? For the third year running Nightshift has teamed up with our chums Gappy Tooth Industries and All Will Be Well Records to bring you a quality snapshot of all that's good and great in Oxford music. And in an age where you could pay £30 to see a tribute band, here you get 16 original acts for under £20. One day some of these artists might be successful enough to have their own tribute act, so come along so you can say "Oh, I saw the real thing back when they were tiny we**ie".

There's an event page here https://www.facebook.com/events/1037535501559551 with links to all the artists, so you can hear what's in store (spoiler alert: they're all brilliant), and tickets are on sale now at https://wegottickets.com/event/669476

16 acts for under £20? Stick that in your stocking, kids.

What you've all been waiting for - December's Nightshift Magazine with the top tracks of the year: Who is Number 6? What is number 1? You are number 2?

We don't go in for clickbait here at Nightshift, but I'm not going to give anything away here when I say the new issue is up online athttps://nightshiftmag.co.uk/2025/dec.pdf and, it being the last issue of the year, features our run-down of the best Oxford songs of 2025. Who is Number 1? Who, indeed, is Number 13? Or 27? Maybe your song is in there. Maybe you just missed out on the Top 30 and Christmas is RUINED.

It shall remain a mystery until you click on the link and find out. So a pretty rubbish mystery really. One even Dan Brown would dismiss as a bit shonky.

But there you have it - as traditional as mince pies, mulled wine and having racist in-laws over for dinner, it's THE BEST OXFORD TRACKS OF 2025. Yay.

Also festively traditional are the Bullingdon's Reggae Xmas Party and The Shapes' Christmas concert, both of which are among the main previews in this issue. Also playing in December is MOUNT St. HELEN, who is the Introducing artist, while SIMPLE have two night on and main man Nick Gladwin is the Promotermouth feature.

It's a double gig guide as there'll be no January issue (something else that's becoming a tradition).

I won't wish you a Merry Christmas yet since it's not even actually December yet and anyway I'll be back with more follow-up posts, but rest assured I love you and sincerely wish you peace on earth. Now, did someone mention mulled wine?

That time already? New Nightshift Magazine out featuring psych folk giants The August List plus tons of releases, live reviews and gig listings:https://nightshiftmag.co.uk/2025/nov.pdf

"Magnificent".

I ran out of superlatives to describe THE AUGUST LIST, so I thought 'magnificent' would sum it up pretty well.

They're on the cover of November's Nightshift which has just gone online athttps://nightshiftmag.co.uk/2025/nov.pdf

Kerraleigh and Martin talk about their new EP, 'Sun Pinned On Ghost Sky', about ghosts and about moving to the metropolis of Watlington. Read the interview, read the EP review and then just go and order your copy. It is, frankly, magnificent. Oh, and go and see them live at The Jericho Tavern on the 6th November - they're even magnificenter live. They'll be sharing the bill with Bedd, whose new album 'Do Not Be Afraid' is also reviewed in the new issue. That too is rather lovely.

Elsewhere MAZAWATTEE get the Introducing treatment; Duncan from BIG GINGER TOM talks about putting on folk gigs in Abingdon and Harwell (I very nearly used a photo of his quite magnificent big ginger tom George in the feature, but I know how easily people get confused, and really, there's no point asking a cat for a gig. There'll be all sorts of conditions, mainly revolving around food, and the organisation would be an utter shambles).

All the other usuals - news, previews, gig reviews, new releases. And six and a half pages of local gigs for November. As someone commented on last week's post, "it's just a load of tribute bands round here." Go and see just how wrong they are.

Have a magnificent month my dears and see you at something superb.

New Nightshift Magazine now out online, featuring a full page add for In A Different Place 2025 all-dayer: Sixteen of Oxfordshire's best acts over two stages on 14 December at The Bullingdon - with full line-up shown. Cheap Tier 2Tickets available from https://wegottickets.com/event/669476

S'TRUTH! IT'S THE TRUTH!

Yes, Unbelievable Truth are back baby, and they've been talking to Nightshift about their new album, their upcoming gig at The Bullingdon and the state of the world. All in the new issue which has just gone online athttps://nightshiftmag.co.uk/2025/oct.pdf

There is a lot of truth throughout the issue, from the truth that there are some proper corking new records out by local bands you'll want to hear, to the truth that October is a properly bonkers month for gigs in and around Oxford, to the truth that sending us a cover version of 'Gimme Shelter' to review is a pretty bad idea, all things considered.

Anyway, have a read and then pick which gigs you're off to. If there's nothing in that gig guide for you you've probably picked up the wrong magazine. The new issue of Dullards Monthly will probably be along in a short while.

And so it is that Nightshift has again teamed up with Gappy Tooth Industries and All Will Be Well Records to bring you the third In A Different Place - a celebration of so much that's great in Oxford music. 16 acts across both rooms of The Bullingdon on Sunday 14th December.

No rest for Nightshift Magazine in the holiday season - August print edition is out in all your favourite places.

There was a flat tyre (not for the first time); there was a parking ticket (incredibly, for the first time), but there were also magazines. Thousands of them. And they were delivered. Because drama and duty are the cornerstones of Nightshift's existence. Them along with red wine and synth-pop.

So, despite all Nightshift's profits* for the next financial quarter being swallowed up by car-related expenses, the print copy of August's issue is out now in most places you'd hope to find it. Only most though - seems August is ripe for closing your shop/café/secret underground lair for refurbishments.

* - "profits" - as if.

August Nightshift Magazine out now! Yes that's right, including 3 pages of gig listings so get out there and enjoy the live music.

What's this? What's this? Only the 21st of the month and the new issue is up online already? Well, it's a rather small issue so it fitted through the bars on the gate more easily than usual.

But, yes, here it is, August's issue - small but perfectly formed, like a kitten:https://nightshiftmag.co.uk/2025/aug.pdf

Featuring SOUTH ARCADE, who are only blummin' well playing the main stage at Reading Festival at the end of August. How did that happen? Hard work and talent it would seem.

Elsewhere, there's an Introducing feature on SUSPIRE and we talk to CHRISTINA HOPKINSON who has been bringing the word of live music to the people of Witney for a few years.

Despite seemingly everyone having the month off from gig promoting, there's still 3 pages of shows for the month. As ever, we're very excited about SUPERNORMAL. Slightly less so about Feastival.

Happy gigging or festivalling or whatever it is that people do these days. Va**ng? Netflixing and chilling? Rioting? Me? I'm going to start thinking about September's issue. When will this torment end?
