The EP features guests Damsel Elysium, Anja Ngozi, and Emma Warren & is a deep body of work created in the midst of the chronic illness of long covid, the music was made over hours of meditative playing the Palmiri Rubab and the power of creativity and transtemporal shifts towards ancestral healing.

‘Lucid Dreams’ is an evocative sonic exploration that invites listeners to drift between the waking world and the dreamscape, to experience ‘dreams you are aware that you are dreaming’.

Known for his deep atmospheric textures and minimalist approach to sound, Chihei Hatakeyama new project expands on his signature style, exploring new emotional territories with LA based multi-instrumentalist .hunter on the first single ‘Wind From Mountains’ out today.

We are thrilled to announce SPECIMENS fourth album ‘POWER, PAIN, PRIVILEGE’, out on April 21st on First Terrace Records.

‘POWER, PAIN, PRIVILEGE’ is SPECIMENS’s most personal work to date - an abstract sonic exploration of biracial identity, in its historicity as well as through the lens of Ives’ own personal experience of being British-Jamaican. The album is a departure from his largely ambient work and explores haunted and twisted dancehall rhythms, industrial drones, and spoken word pieces that track a course through painful incidents of imposter syndrome, shame, privilege & racism. 



The album is accompanied by a film directed by the photographer & director Lucie Rox which premiered last October at the Southbank Centre (who commissioned the piece) and is now set for its Paris debut this Saturday 5th of March at 3537.org. 



SPECIMENS will be live scoring the piece for the shows and Kleopatra Divine will be providing tunes in between the two screenings. A few exclusive advanced copy of the LP will be available to purchase on the night. Make sure to not miss it if you’re in town!

We are back at the beautiful I K L E C T I K in Waterloo on 9th February with a triple bill of starry-eyed ambient dreamsters.

Experimental turntablist NikNak will present a live interpretation of an upcoming EP (👁️ keep them peeled for more news on this 👁️) along with an immersive visual element.

Joining on the bill we’re blessed to have Nexcyia and X**a, two bright celestial bodies of the London ambient scene.

The story of this record started with a late night session on a little church organ in South London in 2019… a year later we were back doing a full recording session, and then through the next odd years these sprawling source tapes were plucked, pruned and nurtured by Bianca until they found this final form.

Boomkat.com call it right: “a spellbinding compound of narcotic chorals, blunted after-hours ambience, and chopped-n-screwed sacred music”. We’re super happy to get this out there. Please enjoy
