Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome Monty Halls back to the studios. This time he brought a team of producers, presenters and special guest to record That Commando Podcast.

Podcasts and chocolate! They make a great combination. And on Tuesday we were at the HQ of Monty Bojangles near Croydon to record an "on location" video podcast 🎤🎧

Paul, Lisa, Mark and Joe were the team this week, with Martin running the studios back in Plymouth.

And the team at Monty Bojangles were very generous, sending us off with goodie bags of truffles😋

In London earlier this week, we realised that our CEO Paul and Producer Lisa have worked together in some capacity for exactly 30 years this week! 🎉

Firstly, they were colleagues at Plymouth Sound Radio and eventually became co-presenters on the Breakfast Show (or Morning Crew 🥱🥱 as it was known). When Paul founded Fresh Air Studios, Lisa came along for the ride as a freelance voiceover 🎤 and scriptwriter📝, then later as Social Media Manager and Audio Producer 🎧

On her first day at Plymouth Sound, Lisa locked her keys in her car and Paul came to her rescue by trying to break in using a coat hanger. Their efforts were futile but he waited with her until the AA arrived and they've been friends ever since. And believe us when we say that nothing makes or breaks a friendship or working relationship quite like trying to be jolly on-air with someone at 6am every day (after a 4am wakeup call) ⏰🥱🫩

Phew 😅 what a busy week for Fresh Air Studios!

Live broadcast for GOD TV on Sunday night/Monday morning; financial podcast recording linking both sides of the Atlantic; video podcast recording at Lords cricket ground; Alice Oswald recording her audiobook of Rhapsody: A Manifesto, for Penguin Randomhouse; Cheeky Bricks podcast exploring video podcasting in Studio 2; video podcast recording at RBVE in Aylesford, Kent; plus all the editing and post production that goes with it!🎧🎧

Fantastic to see our studios and equipment being put to the test and to be able to join forces with partners like Pbmedia to achieve quality results.

2 location shoots this week. Our first was extra special as we were on hallowed ground for many, at the home of Cricket 🏏 - Lords Cricket Ground!

Joe and Talia from Pbmedia were on video, our own producer Lisa Hartwell on audio and CEO Paul provided quality control and technical know-how. He's also a whizz with the gaffer tape!

☀️It was a beautiful day and the downside to such lovely weather is the sheer amount and weight of equipment we had to lug through London in the soaring temperatures🥵 Then it was straight back to Plymouth to start on post-production before heading out again for another podcast recording 🎤🎧

It's only Wednesday and we've already packed a lot into this week. It started on Sunday night when we hosted GOD TV 's live continuity and studio elements for their “Breakers” TV event.

The main event was happening in Orlando with live feeds coming into our Plymouth studios, ready to be combined with the live presentation from Studio Two for onward broadcast.

It may have been the middle of the night but Benny and Lizzie brought some real energy to the show. Meanwhile, in Studio One - our broadcast gallery - we had GOD TV’s Trevor McFarlane directing, our own Mark Stephenson on vision mixing, Richard Hargreave looking after broadcast tech and sound, and Dimitri producing the live graphics, with Martin Burgess-Moon working on set build before the event. Our CEO, Paul, made sure all the technical stuff went to plan.

We went live at 11:45pm on Sunday night, and wrapped at around 3am on Monday morning.

There's a lot to think about when starting a podcast. What's the purpose of the podcast? Can you sustain it for multiple episodes/series (both with content and time commitment)?
