We recently sat down with musician Will Allen on Cross Rhythms Plymouth 96.3 FM to talk about his deeply personal new track, "Healing Hurts". Will opens up about the messy realities of life, the inspiration behind his music from Matthew 7:13, and finding hope knowing God is with us even during our hardest struggles.

📢 We recently welcomed Luke Mansfield from Hope Baptist Church into the studio to discuss the upcoming Love Plymouth weekend and the brand-new Hope for Peverell building project.

There are plenty of ways for you, your neighbours, and your family to get stuck in:

✨ Love Plymouth Weekend (June 5th - 7th)
Friday Night Worship: Head down to St Matt's at 7:30 PM for a powerful night of city-wide prayer and worship.

Saturday Free Fun Day: Hope Baptist is hosting a free community fun day from 10 AM to 3 PM with a BBQ, bouncy castles, and family games.

Sunday Try Church: A relaxed, open environment for anyone wanting to explore faith or visit church.

🏗️ The Hope for Peverell Initiative Since Pounds House was sold, Peverell has been missing a true communal "third space". Hope Baptist wants to transform a large, underused space in their building into a quality community hub (like a local café or project space)—and they want your input to shape it!

Drop in to see the space and share your ideas from Wednesday, June 3rd to Saturday, June 6th.
Consultation slots run from 10 AM - 12 PM and 2 PM - 4 PM daily, with additional evening slots from 6 PM - 8 PM on Wednesday and Thursday.

We recently had the privilege of speaking with talented local artist Louise Pasterfield to share the story behind her new exhibition, "Colour and Courage," taking place at St Stephen's Church in Saltash.

Louise's work features beautiful, large-scale botanical paintings inspired by Cornwall's gardens. Alongside these, she will be displaying 18 powerful portraits of Ukrainian civilians and soldiers. Louise has painted nearly 300 of these portraits to ensure the people of Ukraine are not forgotten in the midst of the ongoing war.

At the opening of the exhibition will be the presentation of a portrait of Chris Parry—a brave Cornish volunteer who lost his life after rescuing over 400 people in Ukraine—to his parents.

Event Details:
Dates: May 28th to May 31st.
Times: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM daily.
Open Evening: Thursday, May 28th at 7:00 PM, featuring the Ukrainian Singers of Plymouth.
Entry: Free for anyone who wants to turn up.

Postcards will be on sale during the event to support Cornwall and Devon Sending Love to Ukraine for humanitarian relief.

We were joined in the studio by Kate Thorn, a pastoral worker for Dame Agnes Weston's Royal Navy charity, widely known as Aggie's. This year marks a massive milestone as the charity celebrates its 150th anniversary. Kate shares the inspiring history of Agnes Weston and explains how the charity continues its legacy of providing a safe haven, pastoral care, and community for the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, and their families. 🥳

Key topics discussed in this interview:
- The rich local history of Aggie's and the original Royal Sailor's Rest in Devonport. How Aggie's provides "havens" and pastoral support directly within the Devonport Dockyard.

- The "Storybook Waves" project, a free initiative helping separated families stay connected through recorded bedtime stories. Essential community initiatives for serving families, including "Aggie's Mondays" and toddler groups at the Crownhill Community Centre.

- The upcoming Sahara Trek fundraiser happening in October 2026 to support the charity's ongoing mission.
