We’re back and ready at The Woolwell Centre from 10 this morning with Shobrooke Road and Ditcheat Junction for the second day of the exhibition. If you’re in the area come and pay us a visit.

We will be attending Woolwell Model Railway Exhibition, over the weekend of Sat 12th / Sun 13th September organised by Chris' Crafts & Model Railways. We will be taking with us both Shobrooke Road and Ditcheat Junction. Why not pop along and say hello to the team. One of our friends will also be nearby us with their new layout Memories Of Wales N Gauge Layout while also helping us out.

There’s been a bit of a change of scenery at Devon Model Railways recently as we’re taking the next layout international with our latest project Klein Weissberg, a fictional mountain railway based on the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) in Switzerland.

The layout will be set in winter and will feature two passing loops, one with a small mountain station, along with steep gradients, spiral tunnels and some fairly dramatic alpine scenery. We’ll be using Kato Unitrack track to allow us to model the tight curves found on the RhB and make the most of the relatively small space available.

Klein Weissberg will also be used as a test bed for some of the technology we’re planning to use on Exmouth Junction. The layout will be fully track circuited and controlled using a DR5000 and iTrain, it should hopefully include full RGB lighting to simulate changing day and night conditions.

One of the longer term aims is also to build a fully functional Integra Domino panel to control the layout, based on the signalling systems used by the real RhB.

We’re also pleased to say that the use of RhB trademarks and logos on Klein Weissberg is being undertaken with the permission of Rhätische Bahn AG under a private, non-commercial licence.

So whilst we might be modelling somewhere rather colder than Devon, there’s still plenty of useful work going on behind the scenes for the next stage of Devon Model Railways.

We’re at Rewe Parish Hall and Social Club all weekend with Shobrooke Road. All set up and ready to go. We look forward to seeing everyone between 10:30 and 16:00 today and tomorrow. The Junction Model Railway Club

There’s been lots of work happening on Woodhampton Junction recently with the first 40 background trees going in making the start of a nicely managed forest. We’ve also been installing more of the security fence down both sides of the tracks and continuing with other scenic work. We’ve been really impressed by the trees from MBR models slightly too tall for our N gauge however we’ve trimmed the bottom branches off and think they look great.

We've had a busy week working on layouts and a couple of the group also had the privilege of visiting .model.railways for one of their factory tour days. They rated the gold package very highly and found the tours extremely interesting. We'd highly recommend a tour if you're interested in model railways and visiting the area.

At the end of the tour we had the chance to build our own wagons. We now have a much greater understanding of the task that the staff have building quite a number of these small wagons every hour.

Thank you .model.railways for a great day. We're hoping that some more of the team might be able to join you on a future tour.

Shobrooke Road had a very busy but very good day at okemodelrailclub Okehampton Model Railway Exhibition yesterday. Huge congratulations to our friends from East Dorset N Gauge Group who won best in show with Benbridge after what could only be described as a challenging weekend - very well deserved.

Shobrooke Road will be out in the next few weeks again in Rewe if you couldn’t get to see us in Okehampton.

We’re always on the lookout for exhibitions to attend with our layouts and are now planning our diary for 2027 and beyond. If you’d like to see Shobrooke Road, Ditcheat Junction or any of our future projects at your show please get in touch on social media or through our website.
